Controlling Roller Shutter with Block Scenes

Recommended Posts

Hi all.

I currently have a Home Center Lite, heat controllers, dimmers, switches, a roller shutter and a keyfob. I have played around with this for around 6 months, and learnt to master the basics, now I would really appreciate some input on how to automate the roller shutter with block scenes.

Can someone point me in the direction of any ready made scenes, tips or tricks for automating the roller shutter? Or is there anyone who, just like me have some experience with it and would like to share ideas and engage in discussions how to make the best automation?

The automation I have been able to make so far makes the blinds move between 3 positions based on weather condition and wind speed during daytime, and retracts the blinds automatically in the evening. I have also made it possible to manually override the automation. For this I have implemented a total of 10 different scenes. It actually works quite well, but I feel it could be better, so I would be very interested to hear how others have solved it.

By the way, which one is the best weather provider to use? Now I am using Yr and haven't tested any others. One thing that really is annoying is that I cannot distinguish between degrees of Cloudy. I would like the blinds to go out when it's partly cloudy (and mostly sunny), and retract when it's completely cloudy (and likely to rain soon), but i cannot do this when all the info I get out is that Weather Condition = Cloudy. Is there a way around it, using a different weather provider, or any other tricks?
