Hello All,

 

Does  anyone know how to get readings from a PH sensor , ORP sensor , and Conductivity Sensor into HC2?

 

I know with temperature sensor is ok but what about other sensors?

  • OK So doing some research i have found that i can use the RGBW that has 4 1-10v input.....

     

    and also i have found this ph that can convert the signal to 1-10v ...

    Connecting them to the RGBW sensor i finally can see the Ph ORP and Filter Pressure inside the Fibaro Interface...

     

    What i am trying to do next is to Build my own Salt Chlorinator and control it via the HC2

    Good to hear you found your products.
    For what is the purpose? Is it for a pool? If it is, I'm rather interested. I just installed one and currently I can only read the temperature via Fibaro smart implant.
    I'm also interested in PH and wondering what you're doing with the pressure sensor.
    Currently I'm also looking into water level measuring (low level measuring). I didn't find one yet because I'm not sure which one to buy for salt watering.
    It seems that contactless sensors exist. See link below. But I don't know where to buy and if they are compatible with the smart implant.

    Yes That is for the Pool.

     

    I get the Ph Values and ORP values from the modules i bought from Aliexpress.

     

    The output of the modules go into the RGB module which is configured as analog inputs ...

     

    With the PH reading i am controlling a dosing pump which feeds HCL into the pool

     

    With the ORP reading i am controlling a custom Power supply which is connected to a Zodiac Cell and produces chlorine

     

     

    I went with the Zodiac Tri Large which makes about 35gr/Hr Chlorine .... 

     

    This cell needs about 17Volts and 7.6A in a pool with 7000ppm Salt concentration .....

     

     

    i know its a bit salty ... :)

     

     

     

     

    With the custom Power supply i had a challenge of having to reverse polarity going to the cell in order to have cleaning function ...

     

    i decided to use a simple mechanical timer and a conductor that reverses the polarity every 3 hours for 3 minutes ...

     

    i could have done that with a fibaro lua ( calculate working hours of cell and after 3 hours turn on one of my modules for 3 minutes ... as long as the pool pump is on !! ) the output of that module would drive the auxiliary conductor coil and thus reversing the polarity )

    but since my coding is very limited i went with this route

     

     

    With the pressure sensor i get reading of the pressure inside sand filter and when pressure rises above 0.9 Bar i get a notification to backwash my filter

    It too me a day to do all this and i'm almost ready now

    I also found a nice VD from the fibaro french forum which calculates the working hours of the pool pump based on the water temperature ,....

    would have been ideal to build another VD and have all the other controls ....  i hate block scenes

     

    maybe @Sankotronic may have something in his UHAS Module .... Who knows

  • Most Critical part i see here is that Salt water Chlorinator AND Ph Dosing Pump must NEVER operate unless the Pool Pump in in operation ...

     

    using just block scenes i don't think it is so safe to do so...

     

    i have set auto switch off for the dosing pump , but i found out that if the scene is active ( block scene for dosing ) then the module does not switch off .... weird ....

    Nice setup you have. Very interesting, although I don’t have a swimming pool, I do have a pond. 

    How did you calibrate the readings on the RGBW switches?

    Hi, my pond is self regulating.

    I need or on the wish list is the water level>> it will be filled with rain water.

    Now its manual switch on or of.

    My pond is randomly filled with rainwater ?

     

    On my wish list is water quality and maybe water level.

    so when a level sensor is breached i get that inside the Fibaro ....

     

    from there on i just use block scenes to do what i want

    Thanks @christos The basics look quite simple, just a voltage from the sensor to the RGBW switch with a reading of the value. 

     

    The ORP sensor comes in two models, 

     

    Model 2: -1000-1000MV 0-10V (ORP sensor + ORP module  )

    Model 5: -2000-2000MV 0-10V (ORP sensor + ORPmodule  )

     

    Which one do you use?

    The number given by an ORP (ORP stands for Oxidation Reduction Potential) meter is a direct index to the pollution levels of the pond.  Unlike most of our other water quality readings, lower numbers are bad, while higher numbers are good.  Readings below 150 indicate a pond in need of significant improvements.  250-400 is the range of healthy ponds, and conditions which promote good fish growth.  High numbers between 475 and 550 reflect active Potassium Permanganate use, which should kill Koi parasites without harming the Koi.  Readings over 550 should not be allowed to persist for more than 15 minutes because of likely damage to the Koi’s gills.

    is a safe and very common way of verifying whether your pool has the correct level of chlorine. However, ORP is not a direct measurement of chlorine. Direct chlorine measurements are given in parts per million (ppm), and many pool owners and operators know that the recommended level of chlorine is 1.0-3.0 ppm.

    measure the sanitization activity of chlorine by measuring its ability to oxidize contaminants in the pool. An ORP measurement is expressed in millivolts, not ppm. The minimum recommended ORP value for a pool is 650mV.

     

    Thats why im targeting 650 to 750mv

     

    you should check free chlorine after you reach your ORP target.....  do not exceed 3.0ppm

    I use it only to power the RGBW module the UBS sensor that is connected to the level controller and the PH and ORP sensors ....

     

    All of them are powered by this transformer .....

     

    For added safety the 240V is coming from an 30mA RCD
