Fibaro Dimmer 2 - Not working with 2 way wall switch

Question

Posted

Hi,

I have installed the Fibaro 2 Dimmer. It is wired up as a 2 way switch, one switch wire going to one wall switch (rocker type) and the other switch wire going to the 2nd Wall switch (all with a natural) then a 3 core and earth strapper from the 1st wall switch to the 2nd wall switch.

Fibaro 2 is paired on the network and I can turn the light on and off and dimmer through the ST app or through Alexa. What I am unable to do is to turn the light on with the wall switches.

If I turn the light on through ST or alexa I can then turn the light off by the switch but only if I switch it on/off/on/off /on/off (3 x times) but I can then still not turn it back on via the wall switch.

Any ideas? I need to install 7 of these as I have created 7 x zones but need to get this working as it should.

Thank you

You need to activate this through the parameter settings of the dimmer

First, I suggest trying to get a simpler configuration working, ie just a single toggle switch. Wire it up and change parameter 20 to 1 (toggle switch).

Once you have that working, wire up for the 3 way switch, per diagram 4 in the online manual. You don't need to change any extra parameters for 3 way switching to work, as long as parameter 20 is set to toggle.

A suggestion: you might want to swap out the toggle switches for momentary push button switches, and wire up per diagram 5 in the online manual. You shouldn't need to run any new cabling for this. Dont forget to set parameter 20 correctly. Push buttons allow variable dimming control by holding down the button. They also help in the case where you have a single toggle switch, which becomes reversed when you use the app to control the light.
