Controlling blinds motor 18V DC

Question

I read on vesternet that it's possible to control 24V DC motor for blinds/curtains.  (

Can I also control 18V DC motor?

 

I really just want to avoid having to add another hub to control my blinds. 

The system is hunter douglas powerview which comes with a 18V dc motor. You can add a hub to get access to the system via an app. There are addons for HC2 & HCL. 

But honestly I'd prefer just using my HC3 and a fibaro module. I don't see the point in a hub/app extra.

 

So can it be done?

Hi @FBerges,

I,m not an expert, not at all, but local regulations can be more strickt than CE/VDE/UL.  I would consult a local expert to be on the safe side. If somthing happens, the insurance company can be very difficult to deal with.

Yes, if you see it that way, then no loan can make anything to electrical systems because he is not trained for it and thus the insurance companies can refuse to settle claims.
This also applies to other jobs such as roofers, plumbers, carpenters, etc. So lawnmowing remains for you as long as you don't get your toes under the lawnmower.
SORRY for the comparisons!
Any work should be done with expertise.
This is especially so for those who are a danger to life and limb.
If you are not sure, then have the work done by a specialist, this is also my Deviese!
I also don't go to my gas heater for exactly that reason!
With my writing I just wanted to say that I don't see any problems from my point of view.
This is also the case in Holland, since the same rules apply to you as to us the ENxxxxxx are rules and not guidelines and therefore binding for all EU members.
This is exactly one of the biggest problems we (EU) had with the British, now that has now been resolved. ?

We don't know why Fibaro have stated  "always use the same power source for L and IN terminals" though, there might be technical reasons for this and Fibaro support confirmed in a support ticket to me that this module can only be used to control 230VAC or 24VDC only.

I took a close look at my FGS-224 module and looked at the air and creepage distances between the supply / inputs and the outputs.
I would say that my technical expertise is sufficient to be able to judge that there is a separation and that this is also sufficient for 230VAC. Fibaro has even milled out to improve that.

This is very well done by them! respect
I would carry out an HV test without hesitation if I had an HV device.
(I was responsible for the final development of comparable parts for years).
That means the relay contacts are sufficiently isolated from the rest of the electronics.
But that only applies to the FGS-224 with others I can't say that because I haven't seen it.

Would you please post the original text by Fibaro?

Hi so in order to control for example a gate or a garage door the correct replacement for FGS-222 would be Qubino Flush 1D, right? Any experience with these on HC2?

  • I opted to go for the hub as well. So right now it will be controlled separately. 
    I see there’s a vd for power view but not compatible with hc3. 
    I will start off without any integration and if the vd is updated to hc3 I’ll probably use that. 
    however .. a solution with no hub and direct connection with hc3 with some fibaro product is on my wishlist.

    I'm using a PowerView hub in combination with the HC2. There is a PowerView Plugin for the HC2, but that is broken.

     

    So I made a VD by myself, as follows:

    Here is the lua code I have put at each button of the VD (sceneID's differ of course)

     

    PI = Net.FHttp("192.168.178.120",80);

    r, s, e = PI:GET("/api/scenes?sceneId=33720");

     

    192.168.178.120  is the IP address of the PowerView Hub, sceneID of the relevant PowerView scene is 33720

     

    Perhaps you know, but you can obtain all scenes of the PowerView Hub from issuing the following url in a browser: 

    http://192.168.178.120/api/scenes

     

    This will return output like:

    {"sceneIds":[33720,30894],

    "sceneData":[

    {"roomId":31392,"name":"WmlqIEhhbGY=","colorId":7,"iconId":54,"networkNumber":30,"id":33720,"order":12,"hkAssist":false},

    showing the sceneid (here above in red), and the name of the scene (again in red), however, the name in base64 encoded. 

    Copy the string and find a base64 decoder on the web (there are plenty of online decoding sites), paste the name on such a decoder and in return you will get the name is shown in your PowerView app.

    I didn't know this.. so perfect..! 

    I don't actually have the hub yet... (monday) and I've never done any lua/qa's so it'll be my first... 

    if you have another for KIX300 from velux/netatmo I'll send you a few beers... (when I have the above you posted working, I will anyway :) )

    I hope to try this out asap - but my wife may disagree with where I use my time.. we move into our new house thursday.. so priorities might change (not in my favour?)
