Question

This QuickApp can be used as your Fibaro Homecenter 3 Weather Provider (Settings - 6. General - Main - Main Devices - Weather Provider)
The Buienradar Weather QuickApp contains the current Dutch weather measurements, the weather forecast and the 5-day forecast
The 5-days forecast is shown in the labels and the tomorrow forecast is shown in the child devices
The current observations are measured by KNMI weather stations spread across The Netherlands and are updated every 10 minutes
The weather report is updated several times a day by the Buienradar meteorologists

Please login or register to see this attachment.

The QuickApp has child devices for:

  • Temperature °C
  • Feel temperature °C
  • Ground temperature °C
  • Humidity %
  • Absolute humidity g/m³
  • Airpressure hPa
  • Windspeed m/s
  • Windspeed km/h
  • Winddirectiondegrees ° (plus wind direction and arrow)
  • Windspeed Bft
  • Windgusts km/h
  • Rain mm/h
  • Rain Last 24h mm
  • Sunpower Watt/m²
  • Visibility km
  • Sunset (time)
  • Sunrise (time)
  • Sun Chance tomorrow %
  • Min Temp tomorrow °C
  • Max Temp tomorrow °C
  • Rain Chance tomorrow %
  • Min Rain tomorrow mm/h
  • Max Rain tomorrow mm/h
  • Wind tomorrow m/s (plus wind direction and arrow)
  • Wind tomorrow km/h (plus wind direction and arrow)

This QuickApp is plug-and-play. The only thing you can do, is change the Station ID to a weather-station nearby from the list or add some nice icons to the devices.

  • Wind Chill (based on the JAG/TI-method) and is only valid for temperatures between -46 C and +10 C and is only valid for wind speed between 1.3 m/s and 49 m/s
  • Windspeed is shown in m/s (km/3.6)
  • Absolute humidity is the measure of water vapor (moisture) in the air, regardless of temperature. It is expressed as grams of moisture per cubic meter of air (g/m3)
  • conditionCodes = {unavailable = 3200, clear = 32, rain = 40, snow = 43, storm = 38, cloudy = 30, fog = 20,}
  • The time shown in the QuickApp, is the last time of the measurement from Buienradar (not the system time)

  • Extra function:

This QuickApp can store all general and station specific weather information in global variables. These global variables you can use in your own scripts, for example to send an email every morning with the weather forecast, send notifications of weather changes, etcetera. To use the Global Variables, you need to set the QuickApp variable “setGlobalVar” to “true”.

I could use someone to give it a try with the Global Variables, with some Lua scripting for additional functionality. Are the Global Variables of good use? Do they serve a purpose?

If they are, maybe post we could some examples here for other users to use.

  • @Sjakie Do you mean the “conditions” —>  "unknown", "clear", "rain", "snow", "storm", "cloudy", "fog" ?

(that is where the icon of the weather provider is triggered on)

  • How to get a value from one of the Global Variables?

This is the content of the Global Variable brStation_[quickappID] (where the measurement of your station is stored):

    Hi SmartHomeEddy,

I really like this QuickApp – ‘Buienradar Weather ??’.

Installing the QuickApp was very easy, and it does exactly what I wanted it to do.

Being able to use the Dutch ‘Buien Radar’ as my HC3 weather provider.

I also like the option of the global variables.
They do exactly what you can expect from them.
    It’s a very nice option.

I would say, keep on baking these kind of codes...

and thank you very much for sharing, SmartHomeEddy

  • I have uploaded a new version of the Buienradar Weather QuickApp.

    The main changes are:

    • Added wind direction, air pressure and feel tempersture to QuickApp labels
    • Changed stationname to regio in labels and log
    • Changed the names of the Global Variables to meet the Fibaro standards and shortened them (please manually delete your old ones and change the names in your scenes)
    • Added an extra check for response of Buienradar (jsonTable)

Because the new Mobile app now supports QuickApps more, it makes sense to show more information in the QuickApp and thus also in the Mobile App.

‼️ If you use the Buienradar Global Variables, the names are changed to a shorter format. Please delete the old Global Variables, the QuickApp will make the new ones. And change the shorter names in your scenes.

weather conditions seems to be (afaik) wrong in the example QA on HC3 (snow = 38, storm = 666). Storm is 38 and snow 43 (set snow, refresh BUI and watch the icon ...)

Additionally the BUI seems to use "unavailable" and not "unknown" for code 3200, this has been documented properly in

Please login or register to see this link.

but not (yet) changed in QA Weather example, i posted that some time ago:

  • Thanks @tinman !

I apparently missed that post, I used the example for the codes. I will change them; snow, storm, unavailable.

(I don’t know for sure if I have got all the possible “weatherdescription” from Buienradar, so maybe, if the weather changes more to winter, I get some more weatherdescriptions to convert to the conditionCodes.)

EDIT: I found two new weatherdescriptions “Afwisselend bewolkt met (mogelijk) wat lichte regen” and "Afwisselend bewolkt met lokaal mist(banken)". Added for the new version

    Hi All,

in version 0.3 it was possible to get reading directly as fibaro weather provider. now in the last version only weather status and the rest appears to be 0.

I already dit a clean install of the quickapp but didn't help so far. So did somebody remove some stuff inside the code ?

    Thanks / bedankt :)

    HI @

Please login or register to see this link.

    thanks for your reply!

in the QuickApp on mobile I see al the details. Like station, temp etc.  In browser I see also details. But the weather station appears to be empty.

In general settings Weather provider: is set to Achter Tuin | Buienradar weather

    Thanks in advance

I suspect the QuickApp doesn’t runs completely.

You don’t have messages in the log?

Which weather station do you use?

What you could do is on line 251 remove the - - in front of this code:

Please login or register to see this code.

If you save the changes, the Quickapp restarts and in the log you should see the “OnInit” and the "------ END ------" debug message. Then the loop is compleet, otherwise not (and the QuickApp crashed).

  • Sorry, my bad. That is in the upcomming version. But it is around 251. It is in this part:

Please login or register to see this code.

BTW if you look at your HC3 dashboard with the weather provider in te top lines, that screen isn’t alway updated. You will see the time is offset. So a refresh in the screen maybe helps.

So remove the two — save the changes and look at your log. Do you see “onInit” and the "------ END ------" debug messages?

You don’t have messages in the log?

Which weather station do you use?

    Ah ok thanks!

I removed -- and in the log i was getting the following information, nothing else:

Please login or register to see this code.

I refreshed already many times and the time is 14:14 should be ok.

Did you still have version 0.3 ?

I like to post some screenshots i get the same error like anybody else on the forum so maybe next post....

  • Version 0.6 is available with two interesting changes:

    • Changed conditionCodes storm = 38 snow = 43 and unknown = unavailable
    • Added weatherdescription "Afwisselend bewolkt met (mogelijk) wat lichte regen" to conditionCode "rain" and and "Afwisselend bewolkt met lokaal mist(banken)" to conditionCode "fog"

  • A new version of the Buienradar Weather QuickApp is available.

The QuickApp now can also handle weatherdescription "Zwaar bewolkt met wat lichte regen" to conditionCode "rain"
