Smoke Sensor turned on for no reason

Ole

Question

Hi all!

So last night, one of my smoke sensors, in my garage, turned on for no apparent reason (probably waking some neighbours as well), in the middle of the night. Three loud beeps, short break, then three beeps again and so on and the red light switched on. I had to run out and pull the battery. Is it broken? Any input would be great before I send it back to the store. It is less than two years old and I changed the battery a few months ago. Model: FGSD-002 EU

Thanks!

It's a little weird because my smoke detector also behaved strangely a week ago.
The sensor is in the ceiling in our hall and started beeping completely for no reason and after approx. 10 sec it was turned off again.

The battery level shows almost full and there is nothing in the log that showed that it had been triggered.
So how can it be that it alarms without leaving any traces?
Is there anyone on Fibaro who enjoys triggering our smoke alarm via remote???

Hi fellow smoke(rs)

Three weeks ago sensor gave push message >>Alarm No next step >>general smoke alarm.

Sensor mounted on ceiling doorsand windows closed nobody in the room.

Twoweeks ago again push alarm no general alarm whe  I pressed the button of the sensor immediatly general smoke alarm.

Action>> blowed the sensor clean.

Shoot me I am lost.

  • Ok, sending it back then. Has not happened to any of my other smoke sensors, be it newer or older versions.

    hi guys,

sorry to hear about your smoke sensors.

And also welcome to the boat.

Check this forum... sooner or later (approximately after 6 month) the trouble starts.

The one and only true solution is: send them back if you still can get a refund. Don't exchange them for a different Fibaro smoke sensor,  they are all flawed by default.

If you can't get your money back, take out the batteries and re-use them. Then throw the smoke sensors into the bin.

Meanwhile there are working z-wave smoke sensors available, not from Fibaro, not with such a nice design, but without the constant wrong alarms.

Wow, I totally agree with you: I got 5 Fibaro Smoke detectors in the house. First one went off randomly 6 month ago, replaced it. Last week this very new one, went off 4 am, woke up whole house + neighbours. This morning, one I installed about 5 month ago in kids bedroom went off 5 am, scared the crap out of them. No smoke, no moisture, no dust. These units are probably indeed flawed. Whats sad is that it seems the detector is flawed which is such basic function working perfectly in a 20 euro "dumb" detector. The z wave part and messaging etc works very well. I think i will remove all of them today. Can you recommend any z wave alternative? Or do I go for "dumb" smoke detectors?
