UK - Installing Dimmer 2 in ceiling rose

Tom27

Question

Hi all,

I have a few Dimmer 2's around the house and they're all installed behind the light switch, however on this occasion I need to install it in the ceiling rose.

Is it possible with this wiring?

Thanks!

yes it is mate

3 red wires are your permanent LIVE - 1 of which needs removing!!!

1 black wire is your permamnet NEUTRAL

1 green/yellow is your EARTH

1 black wire with RED TAPE is your SWITCH LIVE

However you will need to identify which of the 3 red wires is going to your switch and remove it as the dimmer 2 has its own switch connections into Sx and S1.

After identification you should have:

2 red LIVE wires into L of module

2 black wires into N of module and N of light

earth is earth

1 red wire that you identified as going to switch connected to Sx of module

1 black wire with red tape connected to S1 of module

light output of module connected to the light wire that is currently connected to the balck wire with red tape.

Hi @Tom27,

i don't understand quite well your wiring, but it's always possible when you have life wire and neutral available :-D

    Thanks for the help!

If I'm not mistaken, that just leaves the neutral of the light fitting - does that go into N on the module (so there would be 3 connected to N in total)?
