"Requesting neighbours, please wait": eternal loop

knuth

Question

When I tried to include a new device (a Sensative Strip), the HC2 responded by displaying the message "Requesting neighbours, please wait" every 5 seconds. The device was not included. I have been through this twice now, once with "Network wide inclusion" checked, the other without. The only way to terminate the loop is to restart the HC2. What is going on?

My software version is 4.600. I re-meshed the entire network between the first and second attempt, to make sure that the z-wave mesh is OK.

What else can I do?

I have a similar problem, only with the HC3. I don't have a solution yet.

  • Sensative reports this as a known Fibaro issue. I have reported it to Fibaro support, and they confirm this. Let’s hope it will be solved in the next update.

    Any suggestions or solution ?

    Thanks

  • That sounds exactly like the problem with the Sensative strip. Fibaro has acknowledged the problem. We can only hope that they find a solution which may be implemented in the next FW update.

  • Reset, as in passing the magnet three times along the strip? I have tried that several times, but the result is the same when I then retry to include it. I am not surprised that it worked for you, eventually. The inclusion process is fickle, and I have other types of devices which only included on the third or fourth attempt. The problem here is that my HC2 needs to reboot for every attempt, to break the eternal loop.

I power cycled the HC2 and then found that it had added the master device but t was hidden

I then did a reconfig om the master and all 5 child devices were successfully added

I also saw the issue on HC2 with a Fibaro Thermostat (FGT-001). The reconfigure trick mentioned above didn't work even after several tries - but moving the thermostat close to the home center and turning off "the device is located far from controller" did help. The thermostat is normally located fairly close to the HC2, so I hope the routes resulting from this wouldn't be terribly bad. :)

  • Turning off "device is located far from controller" only reduces the signal strength from the z-wave transmitter, as far as I know. It seems strange that this would improve the inclusion process, but in the esoteric world of z-wave, who knows? I will try that when I give it another go. Turning off "network wide inclusion" (see my first post) makes more sense, but in my case did not solve the problem.

    Thanks for sharing!

I changed the battery of the flood module and the association went through properly...

  • The Sensative strip does not have a replaceable battery, making this strategy hard to apply...

I can't really explain why this works either. :) I got a thermostat back form RMA repair recently and I needed to use the same trick today... As far as I can tell based on some troubleshooting tips from this forum, my Z-Wave NW is relatively healthy.

I have the same behaviour when adding a Fibaro wall plug to my HC2 (running 4.620).

Do I understand well the issue was first reported a year ago and after one year it is not yet identified nor solved?

Can the support service of Fibaro give an update?

I too have had this issue many times. Seems like deleting the device, rebooting the HC2 and retry to add the device sometimes works... Would be nive to have a respons from Fibaro about this issue...
