Am I right about associations?

Hello everybody,

 

as I just read about associations, I'd like to kindly ask more a experienced user, if I got it right:

 

I was looking for a solution to finish my lighting setup, precisely I have the same problem in my kitchen and my sleeping room.

In both rooms I have a ceiling fan plus lamp, which I want to control seperately but only a standard single switch and no spare wires to change it to a double switch. (PE is NOT considered a spare wire!)

 

A basic requirement is, that the "classic" functionality remains intact, so if the controller fails I can still walk to the switch and if any other node fails it should only affect that single node's role.

 

If I short the existing switch, I'll have constant AC at the lamp, then I'd set it up like in the below picture and create an association between the two devices. I assume, that this should work - even without gateway. Is this correct?

If so, I'd have a setup for the kitchen. For the sleeping room, I need two more relais behind the respective switches. As I read about sync problems with multi-switch setups, how can I avoid them?

 

If that matters: Controller is a Home Assistant instance, using a ZMEUZB1 stick for connectivity.
