Dimmer 2 in detached mode to control another Dimmer 2

Metalloid14

Question

Hi,

I would like to use a Dimmer 2 in detached mode (ie, without a connected load) to control another Dimmer 2 that has a connected load... is this possible?

Do I need to have some sort of load connected to the dimmer that I want to use merely as a remote?

Thanks,

M

The dimmer (remote) only needs power and a switch. Then you can use associations to control the other dimmer, or create a scene.

  • Hi Kevin,

Thanks for you reply. I assumed that too, but the reality (what I could test myself with more than 5 dimmers) is that, if I don't have a load connected to the dimmer, it does not work, ie, it does not turn on or off...

I wonder if I have to have a load to make the first calibration and then take it out, so that that after that the dimmer works as a remote controller to another dimmer...

BTW, I'm using a Smartthings Hub...
