Relay switch to be installed away from switch

Hi

I am looking to gain extra control for my under cabinet lights in the kitchen. They are on a switch which turns on other lights that we would now like to have the ability have one without the kitchen cabinet lights.

my question is, can I install the Fibaro relay switch closer to the lights away from the switch and if so, will the default on and off action of the switch allow the lights to function normally with the added option of Homekit turning the cabinet lights off?

I don’t know where the 2 sets of lights join some adding an inline option for the cabinet lights is the easiest solution (wires are accessible above the cabinets)

Thanks all

Almost everything is possible.

But remember that if the Fibaro Relais do not have permanent power, it will disappear in your HomeCenter and cannot turn on light.n at all times

So you have to make sure that the relais is powered on at all time. Depending on how your electrician connect the relais, that could mean that you must not turn off the switch if you want to controll your cabinet lights.

  • Thank you for such a quick answer.

We won’t be turning the cabinet lights off separately to the other lights controlled by the same switch that often.

Will it behave like any other smart device and if no power, not appear in Homekit, but if it it gets turned on, will appear and allow control every time it’s switched on?

Ultimately, for the quick fix short term solution, we only want to be able to use it to turn the cabinet lights off whilst the other lights controlled by the same switch stay on. Nearly all of the time, we want all the the lights on so this gives us the option to turn off the cabinet lights when not working in the kitchen area.

    Thanks
