To add a parameter when a template is missing.
1. Enter the parameter number you want to add.
2. Open the parameter dialog box and change the Set value to Set default, and press Save.
3. Confirm the new dialog box that pops up.

4. If everything worked, you should now have the device's default values entered and you can now change Value to the value you want.

For battery devices I would maybe tick Set Value instead of Set Default.

I have tried both, but the parameters stays empty.

It is a device from Logic Home ZBA7140.

I have just asked for a template from support.

I have seen errors in manuals when they mention the SIZE of a parameter (should be 1, 2, 4)... Or rather it might depend on the firmware version of the device. What I am saying is rare, but I think I've seen coolcam and Aeotec devices with this issue. Since there are only 3 valid values (1, 2, 4) you can always try and see what "sticks".

Anyway... Seems like a modern device with modern firmware which means adding the parameter number (eg 18 for Switch Multilevel Set double-activation values for pushbutton 4.) then ticking "read only" should get correct values from the device.  That is, if you keep the battery operated device "awake" by clicking sthe "wake up button" with the right rhythm. Also, the button "read configuration" on the "Device Configuration" tab may be your friend...
