Question

 

This QuickApp contains devices of soil moisture, soil temperature and surface temperature, from accumulated temperature and precipitation data from OpenWeather via Agro Monitoring. 


Soil temperature and moisture are essential indices that allow your customer to adjust irrigation work and prevent crop roots damage.

 

Accumulated temperature and precipitation is essential to make a right decision depends on a threshold setting. Temperature quantity index calculated as the sum of daily temperatures. Humidity quantity index expressed as the sum of daily precipitation.

 

Current soil data is updated 2 times a day. The soil temperature is provided in Kelvins and in this quickapp converted to Celsius (C = K - 273.15)

    • After your registration click the "New" button in the top of the "Create polygon" screen.
    • Click on the polygon icon or square icon on the map.
    • Draw your polygon. If you choose a polygon shape icon do not forget to merge the first and last points to finish your polygon.
    • Fill in the "Name" field and click the "Create" button to save your polygon.
  • The API is free up to 60 calls per minute and a total area of polygons of 1000ha

  • interval = [number] in seconds time to get the data from the API
  • timeout = [number] in seconds for http timeout
  • debugLevel = Number (1=some, 2=few, 3=all, 4=simulation mode) (default = 1)
  • icon = [numbber] User defined icon number (add the icon via an other device and lookup the number)

How to install: 

  1. Open the Configuration Interface
  2. Go to Settings > Devices
  3. Click  +
  4. Choose Other Device
  5. Choose Upload File
  6. Choose file from your computer with .fqa

  • This QuickApp uses an API from Agro Monitoring (OpenWeather). This API has a different approach for your location. It work with a polygon, you can draw your location on a chart and the Polygon is saved in your account with an ID. This QuickApp uses the API key and Polygon ID, without it the QuickApp won't work (will go in simulation mode).

    Hi @SmartHomeEddy,

    The  soil moisture QA of is Ambee a humidity sensor while the soil moisture QA of Agro Monitor is a multilevel sensor.

    What is the underlying difference?

  • I am still figuring out the values from the measurement. The Agro Monitoring API documentation mentiones m3/m3. 
     

    But I think in next version I will change the value from m3/m3 to percentage. I think m3/m3 and % are the same, but percentage is a bit more easy to use. I just need some more measurement to compare.

    In my polygon of 1.4 ha there is except from my garden also a waterpart ("sloot"). Does it have influence on the soil moisture value?

  • I don’t expect it to be that accurate. You could make a second polygon without the water part, you can switch to see the differences.

  • if you are looking for your Polygon ID, here is another way to get it (after you created it). 
     

    In your browser you can get the polygon ID with this URL:

    Fill in you Api key at the end of the URL in the place of the word apiKey. 
     

    In the answer you will see the polygon ID (and other info).

    I think I have a valid api key and polygon id. I don't know where I am making a mistake.

    Today I replaced the current polygon with a new one with a new name and unfortunately it does not change anything.

    I solved my problem today. While browsing over the internet, seems a lot of people did same fault as me.

    You will see your polygon ID in the beginning of displayed text  [{"id":"

     

     

     

     

    So, polygon ID is not name of your polygon, as you can see on page.
