Toon Eneco implementation

Question

Posted (edited)

This is more or less a question for the Dutch users on this forum. Since i dont think

this device is used outside the Netherlands.

So, how great would it be if this thermostat could be used with a HC3.

Do you guys think this will ever happen? When i google on it, i see some

discussions about this, and some sort of solutions. But nothing concrete.

There is a API

Please login or register to see this link.

but thats far above my head.

I sort of think that maybe fibaro should do this ? It looks to me that most

of the sollutions come out of the community. Thats good, But it slows down

many  usable options for the novice users.

Well that said. I will come up with a solution :)  in a few years

Any thoughts ?

Thanks, i will try to explain my "why not". I know its possible to root TOON. I checked the HA forum. And i think

i can do that. I've done stranger things before. But then, where do i end up. With a rooted toon - and a bad functioning

QA that cant do what i want. Not sure ofcourse, but usually it ends up there :)

There is a "open" api for it, eneco is providing it.  I am discovering the HC3 just for a week now, but i am not

sure i want to jump hoops to get things working that in my opinion could be provided by fibaro.

And ofcourse, i know.  This will end up with fooling around with the TOON unit. Root it, And then find out

it was not worth it . Because its not doing what i want....

Well, i am till now pretty fine with the HC3. But my ideas what to do with the HC3 transcend my knowledge. ;/

And ofcourse thanks for your suggestion!!!! I dont know much forums about the HC3 and such, so perfect - more readings :)

@ppeterr With al the "what if's" i don't think home automation is the path for you.

With everything you do, even updating the hc3, there will always be a what if

I had  many times: "why did i do that? why did i do that update? it worked before the update and nothing works after the update.

i regret the things that i did not do, not the things that went wrong.

Nah your a bit off there,  i do these kind of things for over 30 years already. And ofcourse, then you know

that things can go wrong. And will go wrong :) Thats not the thing,  factory reset is my middle name :P

Anyway, maybe there are better solutions in the future then rooting a device to make it work with the HC3

@ppeterr Yeah, i went a bit to far, sorry :)

But i know to many people who wants all kind of things and they do nothing because... what if...

All the plugins (HA, domoticz, hc2, hc3) are all for the rooted toon. I don't know a plugin for the "standard" toon.

I guess all the automaters (is that a word?) has rooted there toon.

Well, i found some usefull information on the link you posted before. It doesnt seem to be very complicated.

Also the one who made the payload to root Toon, started his own dutch forum. I see opportunities.

You can? use every suitable thermostat for your heather if they have wifi and API. (check if you have / need Opentherm?

I use Intergas with Honewell thermostat and comfort tuch.

Only disadvantige they do maintenance every midnight. I asked them to schedule somewhere 2-5 o'clock

In the connection status of Toon, i see it is using Opentherm.

I thought the API for toon is a closed developors program. Where you need to make a account, en then you get

acces to a test API, not the real connection to the one in my house. Then maybe after approval by Eneco you can get

a acces token for connecting to my own Toon.  Not sure, but doesnt sound very easy :)

Sorry my English is "niet zo top" :)

Can you check if you get a reply from the toon api from a normal web browser.

Open this link (edit in the ip of your toon)

    http://192.168.1.50/happ_thermstat?action=getThermostatInfo

of nog beter, deze link. Dat is ook de URL die gebruikt wordt in de QA

    http://192.168.1.50/hdrv_zwave?action=getDevices.json

Oke, then i think there is a problem. Not sure, but the "adressing" and naming of the devices seems to be different in the

quickapp compared to the output of the url.

    this is yours Toon1
