  • Didn't know it came with a manual (wired) switch? The sales people can't give me a simple yes/no answer of wether I can control it with my Home Center, either directly using Z-wave or a device like the Aeotec Garage door controller that I am using on my old garage door.

to be sure, check the manual of the motor running the door. It shows a wiring diagram.

Thanks for your replies @emielstroeve! I haven't had access to the manual yet, but I finally got word back from the dealer too that I will be able to connect a device that acts like a single button switch.

But maybe I can pick your brain about automating the garage door? I want the door to open when I arrive at home, but I haven't had any success with using the Home Center app with geolocation and it seems like it drains the iPhone battery. So I then looked into iOS shortcuts for triggering "open garage door scene", but was unable to figure out how to have more than one condition for opening the gate (when arriving at home and iPhone connected to car bluetooth/wifi, then run open garage door scene). Any ideas?

I didn't automate my door. But if you can trigger a scene when the smartphone connects to your wifi, you should be able to open the door. Of course this needs extra checks, you don't want the door opened every tkime your smartphone connects to wifi. Wifi detection is also talked about a lot on this community and has some drawbacks.

Triggering a scene from more than one source isn't a problem.

  • Hi! Yeah, that's not what I meant. I was talking about whether it is possible to create a shortcut in iOS that checks for bluetooth connection to my car when I arrive at home. It is easy to check for one or the other, but haven't figured out how to check for both. I don't want it to open if I arrive on my bike for example. Thanks!
