All my QA devices show as "lamp" in Google Home

_Wilco_

Question

Hello,

Coming from Homey, I mostly work with virtual devices to control my home using Google Home. With Homey, the virtual devices can be of different types. And when I set the virtual device in Homey to "outlet" i can set in Google Home what type of device is connected (switch, heater, tv lamp, etc.) which makes it easier to control by voice.

With Fibaro (HC3) al my virtual devices (QA's) show as lamp in Google Home, despite the "role" and "category" I set.

Are there any solutions to overcome this issue? Can there be set other devices for use in Google Home?

Thanks,

Wilco

Hello

First to sync device use command ok google sync my device - then you dont need wait few days

We look on device type

for com.fibaro.binarySwitch we will show nomal switch

for com.fibaro.multilevelSwitch we will show dimmer (on, off + slider)

Not all type are supported by google and in this integration. We are waiting when google will finish integration, Last time the changed some API and temperature sensor and few others stopping works

You will see flood, temaparure sensor sensor bo no action, no icon, no push no checking state will work

We look on role and category too is that light or other plug, is that blind or shutter etc

Hello @A.Socha.

Could you please give more information when it will possible to link User account to Google Home instead of SuperAdmin only?

It's very inconvenient and non-serure, to have all Fibaro devices in Google Home.

Thank you in advance

In order to implement this functionality several important changes have to happen along the way
- revolution in authorizations in the gateway
- Integrations must switch to report state based on MQTT

Only then we will be able to enable integration for non-Administrators.

We are slowly working on these elements, but it is unlikely that we will manage to implement them by the end of the year

Dear A. Socha,

I think your answer is not completely correct. Even after saying "Hey Google sync my devices", there will remain devices, that still show up as lights. Only after a couple of days they change. (sometimes not all change)

We have tried this many many times. It never happens immediately.

  • Still having issues with this.

More than a week ago I installed multiple Z-Wave smart sockets. For all I set the "Role" to "Other device" and the "Category" to "Other".

And even today they are still shown as "Lamp" devices in Google home. I performed a sync multiple times with no result.

So when I, for instance, say "He Google turn on the lamp", all these smart sockets, with fan's, chargers and other devises turn on.

This is very annoying. after turning on the lights, I have to ask Google one by one to turn of the other devices. This makes the acceptance for HA by my housemates decrease drastically.

Yes, it sometimes took me more than 2 weeks..maybe wait a little bit. If the dont change, there is next to nothing that we can do. Maybe Fibaro will one day fix this. Is it a fibaro socket that you use?

No, the brand is "Hank", I had never heard of them before, but a local dealer offered them really cheap so I ordered 20 of them. So I hope they wil eventually turn in to switches. ?

  • Today, after almost 4 weeks (and multiple sync retries) the devices where still shown as lamps, so I decided to reboot the HC3.

After the reboot and a "sync devices" on Google Home, the devices immediately changed to "Switch"
