Home Center 3 in combination with google Wifi?

WBeelen

Question

Hello,

I am considering to buy the Fibaro Home Center, but there is one doubt. From what I read, it is possible to use/connect the HC3 via lan and make it the accespoint for my home Wifi. Currently I use google Wifi (mesh) to get wifi across our house. But to do this, one of the Google Wifi modules have to be connected to the LAN. Is it possible to "connect" the Gooogle Wifi modules to the HC3, or will I then get two different Wifi networks?

Thanks in advance for your response.

@Alex de Bruin I agree with you - but you or @WBeelen may have indeed read somewhere that HC3 could serve as an "access point", I remember seeing it during beta testing... I have found some dates and references on this forum:

HC3 does not ment to be working as Wi-Fi Access point. It was possible during early beta, but it was "fixed".

This was also advertised in partner meeting last year. After that i actually asked them about Wi-Fi AP. They said such feature will not be there. Wi-Fi only for setting and connecting to existing Wi-Fi.

Yes, like Peter quoted me. HC3 as AP is not possible. Wi-Fi is there only for connecting HC3 to local LAN/WLAN.

  • Thank you all for your answers!

(unfortunately I didn't get any messages that my question was already answered, so sorry for the delay).

The fact that it isn't an access point makes the choice maybe more simple. So the wifi range is only to able to connect the HC3 from quite long distance via Wifi. And then it will become part of the (in my case) Google Wifi SSiD/network I suppose?

When you install your HC3 you will be able to enter the SSID and password of your existing WiFi. Your HC3 will then become a station, just like your PC
