@ kuuno, when you try AC motor be aware of the powerconsumption of the motor.

The dimmer output is 500W resistive, AC motors have other behavoir.

What type of motor do you have in mind and what says its type plate ?

Important is powerconsumption in VA and powerfactor in cos. phi.

Other point to think of is the startcurrent ( sorry don't know the right english word), the startcurrent can be 10 times higher then the average current.

Please let me know and i help you.

  • i will check the data on a similar motor in store as this is installed and i cant get to it.

but do you know if AC motor speed can be regulated this way, for on/off i could use other modules

    thanks

  • long time but i will post the result that i recently did

i tested smaller bathroom vent that was around 40w and bigger house vent and bot dimmed ok!

the smaller vent needed little more current to start so i had to turn dimmer to 40% atleast for it to start. but the bigger vent started already at 5% or so and worked well

i will do more test but this is a good solution for me already - controlling ventilation and vent speed with fibaro

    regards

    Kuuno

    EDIT:some info from the bigger motor: AC 230V, 50hz, 62W 0,27A, 2390rpm

    looks like this:

  • 62W is a small motor,

probably you could dim motors around 300W (safety)

  • only thing i found that sometimes motor does small noise when running slow rpm, that is probably because of dimmer. any way to change dimmer settings to prevent it?
