Check Unifi AP for presence - inform HC2 of such

GlennNZ

Question

Hi

Thought would post work-in-progress python based script to check for the presence of a set MAC address and then inform HC2 - away/home etc. Appears to be working well in my setting.

Basic requirements

- Unifi AP

- Unifi API installed (

)

- Computer running this Python script somewhere

Summary is to check unifi AP re: MAC address and check against the one you are interested in - if present to push that information in python as globalvariable to HC2. ADN posts here the HC2 push variable python solution with thanks.

Have posted python code below - freely admit pretty rough and ready code as it has been sometime!

But works

- HC2 notified - when individual MAC leaves and when arrives.

Leaving appears to take a while (A few minutes) before AP released gone - but arrived is within seconds. (likely more important)

- Logs all arrivals, departures to log file along with running count

- Ignores but logs all errors - to keep going no matter what

Works with iphones and Ios7 - seems better on OS 7.0.4 - OS 7.0.3 appeared to loose connection with powersave - not OS 7.0.4.

Aim of HC2 Variables Home, Arrived, Left etc - is to run scene based on Arrived = true, and once scene completed change Arrived variable to False. Home variable reflects whether individual is home or not.

Have pasted below

@GlennNZ,

Does this script still works well with HC2 4.06x firmware and UniFi controller version 4.8.x?
