HC-Lite Interpolate variables

TimJWatts

Question

into Notification strings and virtual device send-strings.

Can it be done?

Tried a couple of usuals - $var, %(var) - no joy.

Basically, I can "make do" with an HC-L BUT I must be able to send variables and certain device values (eg energy monitor plug, TKB TZ88E) to an external server using the Virtual Device method...

It really should be possible? If not, I fear I might have to upgrade to HC2 for LUA and return the HC-L - but HC2 is very much off my budget...

Cheers for a "yes" or "no" or "definitely in the next version"

OK - I guess not...

I suspect my solution might be to leave the simple stuff in the HCL and then poll the API from a proper linux box to do things like graphing data... I will have to hook up a couple of devices to see the possibilities.

To Fibaro: I think variable interpolation would be a reasonable request.

The HC2 still has all the full on LUA coding possibilities, but being able to actually use variables in messages on the HCL would be very useful.

Hi TimJWatts, thank you for your feedback, unfortunately as you already found out, there is not way to embed variables' values in strings. Such things are only possible in HC2, if you need them in HCL you need to use some external server to send notifications - e.g. Raspberry that will inquire HCL for values of variables.
