send lux reports only if needed

dawiinci

Question

I want to reduce the amount of traffic sent by changes of light intensity. Therefore I want to send it every 300s but only if it changed by X lux. Is this even possible? It works with temperature though.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

dawiinci, turn of interval and leave 200 lux or more to report state then motion will report it at wakeup every 2h or when light will change by 200 or more

  • The problem is these sensors have around 0 to 200, they don't have direct sunlight in sight. Therefore no update would happen beside of polling.

parameters are working separate so if you set up 300s it will always report after 300s you can try other value like 150 or 100 or just leave only wakeup

  • 300 s are fine but it could avoid sending ist value if it didn't change (e.g. at night). But ok that is not how it works for light. It does work for temperature...

    This would save some battery.

  • Yes I know, but I would like to have the functionality of the temperature for light as well.

300 s update ONLY IF temperature change is larger than 1°C

300 s update ONLY IF lux change is larger than 50

not: 300 s update OR lux change is larger than 50
