Battery life FGBS-001 Universal Binary Sensor

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I connected my Universal Binary Sensor FGBS-001 to a 9V battery for power source.

Battery life is only two days.

Any ideas how to extend the battery life?

There are no temperature sensors connected, just a plain micro switch to input No. 1.

Thanks in advance, sihui

The UBS is not designed for battery use. It is designed to work from a constant supply +/- 12 to 24 V DC and draws 20 - 40 mA if my memory doesn't fail me

/emoticons/default_icon_wink.gif" alt=";-)" /> This cannot be changed. This way the device can/will also act as a repeater on the Z-wave network.

An alternative I use is the Fibaro Door/Windows sensor.

If you want a remote, a Aeon Minimote might be a good alternative.

What are you trying to do?

Thx for your reply, I didn't know that the sensor draws this amount of current.

My idea was to connect a microswitch to my mailbox which is activated when a letter is dropped in ... Unfortunately I cannot get some wires to the mailbox so it must be battery operated.

    Thx again.

Use a Door/Window sensor with a switch connected. It's designed to be used as a binary sensor as well.
