Question

Installing Irrigation system at our house and will be controlled by HC2 using the Fibaro 1.5kw relays. One thing that I would like to add is a Rain sensor. Are there any z wave compatible Rain sensors that I can use???

  • Why not use data from some kind of weather station?

Any example on how this can be done would be great..

The NetAtMo is a good option but it is quite expensive as you need the main module and also the rain gauge too.. Is that correct? The total cost of that alone is more then just installing the Irrigation controller which works with a rain sensor..

For advanced options weather station would be best solution, but of course the most expensive one. If you want to keep it simple, binary rain sensor simply connected to UBS will do. For sensors operating on different protocols some DIY solutions may be needed.

That's correct. You need the station and then the rain gauge as well. As mentioned above you can connect a rain sensor to UBS and there is a thread on here somewhere about doing something similar to this

Netatmo is in my opinion, overpriced for many things that it does not do for its outdoor unit.

May be some modification to the flood sensor and it will work better and direct z-wave than Netatmo will ever do.
