Here's an example on how you can make your mousetrap a "Smart mousetrap" and receive a message when it's activated.

Shopping list:

- Mouse Trap from Giljotti or similar.
- Fibaro door sensor
- Normal ink pen / only the small spring/feather.
- A little glue type epoxy or hot-melt adhesive
- Small cable ties
- Cable with 2 or 4 cores depending on whether you want one or more series-connected to the same sensor.

I have chosen to have some of one only and some of two connected.

Because the traps are connected in series will get the signal if one of them slams, but not the additional signal if the second bang. So it loses some functionality to add more then one on each sensor.

Therefore i prefere one trap on each sensor.

1. Start by including door sensor to your system. Hold TMP button on the back while you press 3 times quickly the internal tmp button (remove the cover).

2. Take a 1.5-2m cable (optional) and tighten as shown.

3. Sacrificing an ink pen that you do not need, we need only spring

- Cut the spring on the middle with a wire cutter.
- Glue the spring as illustrated. I used 2-comp epoxy. But certainly goes equally well with hot melt adhesive. Ensure the spring falls below bang spring and that it has contacted when the trap is charged.
Let dry

4. Now pull one wire and attach the pen spring, as far down as you can so we can retain the spring effect.

5. Remove the bang spring (just to loosen from the guillotine, then pull up)

6. Put the second conductor in the hole where the spring is seated and then reinsert the spring and attach it to the guillotine.

7. Insert the leaders in door sensor on binary input as shown.

8. The trap is now a "smart trap"

In the Gateway needs to the put some kind of activity when the trap is slapped.
In Fibaro / HC2 can be done as follows

1. Make sure your newly added door sensor device is properly positioned in the room / section. (so you have a clean and neat interface).
2. Call it something like: Mouse Trap crawl
3. Go to the Panels / Message panel. Create New Message type: Subject: Mousetrap crawl, message: Mousetrap crawl fired. SAVE.
4. Go to Scenes and create a new scene.

4.1 Create the following (see picture at the bottom).
- If the unit "Mousetrap crawl" == violated Then,
- - Send message / Pusch note "Mousetrap crawl"
Save

CLEAR!

Now you get a message when there is a mouse and you need to run and control the whole time.

Charge the mousetrap with Mars / Twixx or something similar with a chocolate / cola that are tough and long lasting. The cheese is just a myth

[joke mode on]

You could also code a small scene to electrocute the mouse/rat after a set time.
