Controlling Philips Hue in Scenes is a pain and no work-arounds work. Not even VD

Question

Posted

I recently bought Fibaro HC2 after a short usage of VeraEdge (which I still have). All the stuff from Fibaro works perfectly which I expect it to do, but the integration with Philips Hue is terrible. The plugin is barely acceptable for direct Device control but I find it a pain that I need to convert perfectly good Block based scenes into LUA just because I can't get decent Philips Hue support in any other way.

...you all know this

I could accept the Virtual Device workaround but I can't even get that to work.

The instructions I've seen don't match the true world scenario, for example I can't manage to create a Hue user needed for setting up a Virtual Device, at least I haven't found the user ID information and other stuff needed for the VD code to work.

Does anyone have instructions on setting up the latest version of Philips Hue with the latest version of HC2 (4.0.72)?

Even VeraEdge had better support for Philips Hue and it was fully supported in Wizard based scenes.

Hi,

Here is an example with instructions how to create your own virtual device. I've used this to create my own version of it, which runs perfectly with 4.0.80.

Bonus is main scene for all time based events that will take care of globals such as Darkness, TimeOfDay, Seasons, etc, that are solid basement for all HA solutions:
