Recovery boot without scenes

lurendrejer

Question

Hi, i made a mistake while making a scene (making a reference to itself on a "Run at startup" scene) - and now when the HCL boots, it just freezes and reboots.

Can i start the HCL without any scenes active, and just delete the scene?

I realised my mistake the second i pressed save - and now i'm stuck. I don't have any backups.

Hi @lurendrejer

Not sure if it's possible to do this with the HCL, but it might be able to delete the scene using the Delete Scene API (at http://<HCL IP address>/docs), while the HCL is booting up.  Repeatedly submit the request, and you might be able to catch it before it goes into a loop.  If you don't know the scene number, then you could try the Get scenes API first.

Failing that, then I would suggest contacting support.

  • Hi, and thank you. :)

I actually did try that, the HCL api only has 'disable' and 'stop' in the scene API. I'm pretty sure the scene-ID was 60 but i never got anywhere - it still just crashed.

I've reset the darn thing and i'm now on the second day of readding, re-associating, re-setting, etc. all my devices.

    What a waste of time.....

    Hi @lurendrejer,

and when you finish with rebuilding system don't forget to make backup! It can save you a lot of valuable time in future.
