Hi all

I am looking for a physical device mainly for presentation of data purpose from my home automation. It could be temperature and a lot other status to present. I want a few devices in the house so the temperature etc can be seen without open apps in the phone or tablet (i.e permanent ON on the wall). My wife want to see the outdoor temp without opening a phone or tablet app. In some cases I agree it is a good thing :)

it could be a zwave enabled device running on battery and/or USB with a screen that I can put data on from HC2. It could also be a wifi enabled device as long as a HC2 VD or scene LUA code is capable of sending data to it over zwave or a tcp socket. The screen can be of a iphone plus size an mono chrome. I could of course buy a Raspberry pi with a screen and do it all from scratch. But I am asking the community pro:s here to see if you can come up with any links to usable devices. I prefer a device than can be on 24x7 without causing fire or break which I assume disqualify a std cheap tablet.

How is it possible that no one sell just a zwave display 2017?

Any suggestions very much appreciated?

Tnx in advance

Peo

Hi Pos,

I use several Lenovo Tab 3 (8" and 10") tables dedicated only for running ImperiHome app. I have tweaked them to turn ON automatically the display when there is moving in front of them (using their built-in camera) and used an Auto-Start / Whatchdog app to ensure that the ImperiHome is always running and in case of a crash it auto-restarts the app (very rarely happen).

For several months they workd 24/7 without any issues and the built-in stand on the table allows me to leave in vertical position o a table or hang them.

The ImperiHome app is pretty powerful and you can see VD's and run Scenes. You should try it the Android version which is more customization than the IOS version.

    Tnx for input.

Will look into it and add as a possible solution

Do you pay for the app or any in-app purchase for it to work properly ?

    Tnx

    Hi,

I would second the suggestion regarding the ImperiHome app. Your need is really what it was build for.

The point of Z-wave is that it is a low bandwidth protocol, so I cannot see how it would support a display device like the one you need, unless of course the display is the controller itself (like the Zipatile). I don't care very much for the Zipato stuff though, so please have a look at ImperiHome.

Or, if you are feeling eager to do some DIY hacking, have the HC2 send information to a raspberry pi that then presents it on a web page designed by you. This page may then be displayed on a tablet the way you describe. This givs you total flexibility, and something to do :-).

Low bandwidth, yes.. I was not going to run video :) Just present data.

I tried the free imperihome app. I is buggy. It only displays the first row from this VD...

Please login or register to see this link.

It seem I probably have to send data to a web page. If I do, I will probably skip the raspberry and send directly from HC2 to my existing virtual web server. The only reason for a raspberry is if I was going to put it on a wall together with a small presentation screen. Or maybe a tablet put on the wall just showing a web page with info.
