Hi,

I send push messages to my phone which is working fine.

Messages are displayed in the messages center of my iphone.

Also the batch-number of the fibaro-app is displayed.

But how can I view these messages in the fibaro-app itself? When I open the fibaro app, the messages are removed from the iphone message center, but the messages are not shown in the notification center of the fibaro app.

My question is: How can I add messages to the Fibaro notification center?

Hello @Fibaro Richard and welcome to Fibaro forum!

On Fibaro system there are two types of messages PUSH and POPUP.

  • PUSH messages are shown on lock screen of the mobile device and they produce sound when received. This messages you can read only on lock screen or in notification center but they are removed from system as soon as Fibaro app is loaded.
  • POPUP messages on the other hand do not produce any sounds when received, but they are shown in Fibaro app Notification section.

As you can see each of this two types has it's advantages and disadvantages and because of that in some cases I use them both at the same time while in some cases only one of them.

How to use POPUP messages you can find here:

NOTE

Even on last versions of HC firmware and iOS app sometimes popup messages does not appear if app was loaded in background. To see them you will have to close app and then run it again to see all popup messages received. This is well known bug which Fibaro team still didn't solved.

     quick response.

When I include this pop-up notification into my code this works on my mobile devices.

I have another question about this.

Why is it only visible on my mobile devices and is this message not shown in the notification center on the Fibaro website?

    Hi @Fibaro Richard,

As far as I know all push and popup messages are sent to connected mobile devices only and can't be viewed on web GUI.

    Hi @

    ,

For push messages I agree, because you have to select which user/device this push message must receive.

But this is not the case with pop-up messages, every device will receive these messages except of the web-GUI. Strange behaviour.

Before I start using Fibaro HC2, I used the Vera Mios as zwave-controller station. The big difference between the two is..

Fibaro gives me not enough information about what is hapening...

The end-user has to add his own debug/logging into the lau-code to get some feedback from the HC2.

    Hi @Fibaro Richard,

Yes you are right, on Fibaro everything that you need you have to do code for it, but for me this is advantage because in most cases offered solutions are not good enough for me and I like the challenge to do it myself.

Also to be honest I never expected to receive popup messages on computer browser. It was somehow natural for me that all this notifications are send to mobile devices only. I don't keep web GUI open all the time, well I do most of the time because I'm busy with coding in LUA, but my phone or iPad are always near by.

I believe that this is just a matter of habits. You get use to Vera Mios so now you are looking at HC2 through Vera glasses. I never used any other z-wave controllers except my HC2 so I can't say what is better or worse, but I can say after 2 years having Fibaro HC2 and writing near million lines of code in LUA that it is good choice and powerful box despite some problems and hiccups in the past.

     for your reply.

I agree with you that I'm looking at the nice things Fibaro has and what I miss that Vera has to offer.

That is something I have to get use to.

I also agree with you that a popup is not needed when using the web-GUI. But I find it strange that the "notification center" which is viewable on the web-GUI and the mobile devices show different information. So when I want to add message to a scene by putting them in the notification center they will be shown on the mobile devices (as a pop-up, but also as an entry in the notification center). This is not the case on the web-GUI. There is not a place where all message as shown..I have to look in the web-gui to see for example " too many instances of a scene started" and on the iphone or ipad for messages i have send to the notification center... That is a little strange behaviour.

Time will tell and i will learn where wat information is provided by fibaro GUI/mobile devices.

    Hi @Fibaro Richard,

You are absolutely right, system notifications are not sent to mobile devices and can bee seen only on web GUI. But even there sometimes you can miss this system notifications due to page refresh stop working. For this system notifications it would be nice if Fibaro can add possibility to add users possibility to choose wether they want to receive them on mobile devices or not.
