Hello everyone

my name is Stephane, I'm 44, from Reunion island.

I want to move to this new world of connected stuff, and found this place full of informations, and Fibaro sounds like a good company so far.

I have an old Surtec alarm installed (the company that sold it to me and installed went broke so I'll have to figure out how to uninstall it).

I plan to do those things:

- manage lightning through HUE

- manage AC on/off

- manage security of my house (an alarm, a camera)

- manage fire and smoke detector

- manage external lightning

- manage netatmo weather station

and I guess there must be stuff I forgot, but well, my house is not old (7 years), but I don't want to run new wires everywhere, so wireless Z sounds good enough.

I'm still trying to understand what I really need, but I'll make a move this year for sure:)

Hi,

at first you should inspect your installation: check if you have 2 wires (without N) or 3 wires (with N) in your switch boxes. It is important, as single and double switch need N wire to operate, no workaround if you want to put modules in the switch boxes. If you don't have N wire in your boxes, your only option will be Dimmer 2 which is not compatible with every type of lighting. Second thing, switch boxes themselves - check if you have enough space inside - that is the thing I am struggling a bit with - too shallow boxes. It is possible to switch them to deeper ones, but it is a "dirty work" to some extent.

You could stick to HUE, but remember that if you use traditional switch with HUE bulbs, that particular switch would need to be ALWAYS on - turning it off will cut off control of HUE bulbs through the app. I found workaround of that but it is expensive as I needed to combine HUE bulbs with Fibaro switch modules - both are bit pricey.

Best regards,

Andrzej Browarski
