I’m currently working on an Alexa doorbell skill.

From what I’ve seen of the Alexa api, there is no way of announcing specific messsages.

    Hi all

I found out a way to get Alexa to say specific messages. You can do this through Alexa routines. So with the Alexa skill I’m building you’ll be able to trigger a routine and get Alexa to announce whatever you want!

The skill is now available to find out more visit the website below.

    Hi @ianakapilotlight,

I'm really interested in your doorbell project :-)

Especially on the possibility to find a way to trigger Alexa to say what we want !

Do you plan to share your development in an opened repository like github, to inspire us ?

    Thanks

    Hi guys,

You know Sonos is doing this already, I notice a delay of around 8 seconds is this  a normal value?

Any idea what the delay on Alexa could or should be?

Kage, Happenly I have already a Sonos for several years and I am happy with it.

Alexa I have tryed but I did not liked it, if I compare with theeasy thing in Homey.

I am stil curious for the Alexa since my doorbell is broken down. Now I can convince my wife perhaps to buy an Alexa instead of a new doorbell, hahahaha

    Hi @

Please login or register to see this link.

Thank you for your interest in my little project. It's still very much in development at the moment, however I hope to have a complete solution in around a month. During this time I need to complete testing of the solution and pass the Amazon certification process.

I have it running in my personal account (Amazon do not provide the ability to share this with others).

I have attached some screen shots to give you a flavour of what you can do with it once configured. The key to this is seeing the doorbell not necessarily as a 'doorbell' although it can be used as such, but also as a 'Trigger' to start routines within the Alexa system.

Please login or register to see this attachment.

When you click 'Add action' this is the screen Alexa displays.

Hi All. For those of you that may still be interested in my Alexa doorbell API project. It’s now available in the Amazon UK, Amazon USA, Amazon Canada and Amazon India Alexa stores.

    Thanks for your interest.

    Hi All,

I just wanted to let you all know that today I received a message from Amazon saying that the Alexa Doorbell skill had passed the certification process and is now available on Amazon Italian store.

I wanted to thank @alexpelli for his time and effort in translating the website into Italian.

If anyone else has some time available to dedicate to translating the website (

Please login or register to see this link.

) into other languages then please let me know.
