Question

Posted

Hello,

I just looked into the log which appears at the top of the HC2 UI and i found this:

Please login or register to see this code.

The IDs 487 and 490 correspond both to a Fibaro dimmer 2,  the ID 51 to a Fibaro Roller Shutter.

I have never seen such error message.

Any idea what it can mean ? Before i start messing with the network ... again ;D

Thank you.

I've seen the "Application rejected request" on the Roller Shutter 3 and it is pretty consistent in this model only. It has been reported a while a go but no answer from Fibaro yet. AFAIK this does not cause issues... I would certainly ignore this one.

And I also would not worry about the dimmer either. You see, parameter 13 is used to calibrate and also report calibration status. It appears the upgrade or reboot triggered a calibration. I cannot explain why you see them several times . But 1 means "calibrate" and 0 means "back to normal"

Now the remaining message.. "ID 490: System hardware failure. Read the manual.". Sounds scary, but I am not sure what happend right before this message. During calibration, dimmer 2 does not respond to commands, so if device 490 is one of the slaves than this might be quite normal as well. The only trouble with that explanation is that the timestamps do not correspond to the parameter 13 changes. Is this a 2-wire setup without bypass?

But it might also be a Z-Wave message sent from the Dimmer 2, and as I read the manual (it says I need to do that :)) then this might apply:

G) HARDWARE FAIL ERROR Appearing of an error may be a result of serious hardware failure of the Dimmer 2. In this case the Dimmer 2 sets the maximum brightness level and the LED visual indicator starts blinking in red. All external actions (Z-Wave commands, pressing the switches, menu settings) will be ignored. We recommend disconnecting the device from the power supply and contacting the customer service or to initiate the guarantee procedure. This error may also appear as a result of enabling the Dimmer 2 without load connected to the output in 3-wire connection. It is not a dangerous situation. We recommend disabling the fuse, connecting the load and enabling the fuse again.

Did you see it set maximum brightness?

I have not seen such a log before, but I would not worry too much if the errors do not reappear. And I would certainly not mess with the network.

BTW which HC firmware? 4.532?

Hi Peter and thanks for chiming in :-)

Device ID 490 is indeed a slave. It is a 3 wire connection.  And i think you hit hit the nail on the head with "This error may also appear as a result of enabling the Dimmer 2 without load connected to the output in 3-wire connection"  ;D  Indeed that dimmer has no load for about a week or so (might be 2-3 weeks )... someone has been very lazy in changing a few bulbs :?  So either i go replace the bulbs or i disable the calibration if possible ;D

As a punishment, I suggest that person changes the light bulb while standing on one leg only, to make it more exciting :) :) :)

Seriously... that is pretty cool logging, isn't it? Only improvement could be to add this "no bulb" situation but maybe then  the log text gets rather long. I don't know...
