Universal sensor input over 30m?

sarf77

Question

Hi all,

I am wanting to use a UBS to trigger an entry and exit scene through an electric gate. The gate is some 30m from the nearest HCL so zwave range will be difficult and unreliable.

If I run a 30m two core cable across IN1 and Gnd out to a magnetic reed switch, Will the UBS still sense the open close contact over that distance? Worst case I could use a 12V relay locally switched by the 30M cable through the mag reed if need be.

There is a limitation for 2-wire bus only (to connect temperature sensors).

  • Guys just to report back,

So it turns out the cable run was around 80m. It was using a 4mm2 twin copper cable.

The UBS is working perfectly. I'm using both inputs over the same distance with the USB right beside the gateway on a power supply.

    Very pleased.
