Question

Hi all!

Is there any z-wave RGBW controller, which can be used outdoors even during the winter?

Thanks in advance!

Hi @bbolgar

I use a surface-mounted junction box in an area where no rain can get in.

Greetings!

  • I'm rather worried about the temperatures. The manual says the unit operates between 0-40 C...

My RGBW works well in the temperature range -20 (or lower) to + 40 ° C.

I do not think it is the temperature that is the problem. It is worse if moisture enters the unit.
I've had my RGBW out for 3-4 years now.

I would not sign the temperature.
If the device would work safely at -20 ° C, the Fibaro would also have indicated.
But it is so that many devices in the extended temperature range work but not all and not always safely.
Only devices that comply with MIL. can certainly be made.
But since the components and the effort are bigger and why should Fibaro do that?
The biggest problem is the moisture content problem, I agree with you, the complete design and the components are not for> IP20 so interiors.
Pack the module in a> IP44 junction box and everything is fine. For a few years now I have been running smoothly with an FGS-223.

    Greetings Frank
