You can automate a lot of things with a door/window sensor. What is the “strangest” (maybe most inventive) place were you installed a door/window sensor (with a photo please)? 😀🍿

I placed a door/window sensor in both my mailbox and parcel mailbox to get a message when the postman or parcel deliverer puts in mail or package.

What a coincidence! I just happened to order a fibaro door sensor for my upcoming project.

My plan is to have this sensor monitor the freezer door. My kids keep raiding the freezer and don't close it properly.

Action plan at an open door:

- First neat notification on all chromecast devices.

- All lamps will flash red

- Whatsapp message that the freezer has to close now

- Ship's horn going off

- Automatically sends a payment tag of 25 euros to my children.

- Internet block if not met.

- FORMAT ALLLLLL DEVICESSSSSSS

:)

That will teach them!

That is a real nice solution, it would be great if you could integrate a internal camera. So when there is something dropped in the box it would send a picture of the parcel.

Maybe nor so easy to include into a HC3.

@SmartHomeEddyI've also tried to place a door/window sensor at my mailbox. But it didn't fit for some reason.

The most funy use case I have seen, is a mouse trap with a fibaro door sensor. Look

@Fabir I missed this one from 2017. Great solution, a bit aggressive 😃

@ppeterr nice small cam. I like those ESP32 solutions. I don’t have power in the box. My security cam sends a photo as soon as the postman opens the lit. With some luck, the parcel is on the photo. And most of the times, we already know what parcel to expect.

Eddy... are you asking for a weirder place? For me, it's the windows and doors from the balcony.

And why is it strange? Their function. Since I live in an apartment building on the 4th floor, the magnets do not have a classic protective function, but a blocking one.

I rewrote my scenes so that if the windows are open, it doesn't happen that someone lowers the INTERIOR blinds. The end of crumpled blinds that unrolled into open vents. :)

In addition, a popup will appear from the right on the mobile saying that the door/window is open and the blinds have not been pulled down.
