Hello community, While coding Scenes and Virtual Devices I noticed syntax, scope and functional differences for the same code. This is a huge source of confusion, frustation and bugs. The cause is different LUA versions for Scenes and Virtual Devices in the very same HC2 FW. Staggering! Check for your self with this line of code: fibaro:debug( _VERSION ) In HC2 FW 4.160: Scenes use LUA 5.2 VD's use LUA 5.1 Update 4.170 has not been installed yet but there is no mention of LUA version updates. Maybe someone is willing to report back here. Fibaro should at least update VD LUA to version 5.2 to equal Scenes LUA. Best would be to update VD LUA and Scenes LUA to always the same version, best 5.3.(4) That saves a lot of frustration!!! and frees a ton of space in the FW image for new features. Its main new features are integers, bitwise operators, a basic utf-8 library, and support for both 64-bit and 32-bit platforms. The current release is Lua 5.3.4, released on 30 Jan 2017. Lua 5.2 Lua 5.2 was released on 16 Dec 2011. Its main new features are yieldable pcall and metamethods, new lexical scheme for globals, ephemeron tables, new library for bitwise operations, light C functions, emergency garbage collector, goto statement, and finalizers for tables. The last release was Lua 5.2.4, released on 07 Mar 2015. There will be no further releases of Lua 5.2. Lua 5.1 Lua 5.1 was released on 21 Feb 2006. Its main new features were a new module system, incremental garbage collection, new mechanism for varargs, new syntax for long strings and comments, mod and length operators, metatables for all types, new configuration scheme via luaconf.h, and a fully reentrant parser.
