Modifications to make things 'smarter'

Hi, I thought it may be good to have one topic about modifications that turn ordinary things into smart devices. Here is what I did so far to retrofit some existing things in order to make it smart. As many have turned their doorbell into a smart doorbell, I did the same using Sonos speaker on every floor for broadcasting pre-created audio (I used the convert to audio feature on my MAC) - also a picture is sent by mail from an IP cam. Also I put a door/window sensor onto the flap for the post box (triggering the classical "you have mail") as well as it sends a picture via email (useless, but nice for testing) The script for the finishing of the washing machine sometimes interferred with the second script for the dryer - moving the line eith the SONOS_MUSIC variable down just before the push message is sent, solved this for me. An old electro motor turned into a spotlight by the use of an IKEA LED bulb, Fibaro dimmer2 and a spare Lens from a desktop magnifying lamp) Some rooms do have the smart light scene (thanks for the author and contributors!) and as my floor spots are too bright, even on lowest dim level during the night, I turned an old laser pointer (harmless power) with effect grid into a spot replacement, so only this will be swithced on by smart light scene at night. scattering the floor with green spots. I'd be more than happy to see other ideas as for sure there is a lot more one can do in DIY mode. Below are some pictures. cheers, gruberb
