Sending String (Virtual Device) to Global Cache iTach WF2IR

JohnnyC

Question

Is anyone able to help me with the sending of commands to my Global Cache so that it will emit the IR codes for my TV?

I have learnt the codes from the remote using iLearn and labeled them but need to know how to send a command to the Wifi-IR device so that it emits the code. I can test the codes through iLearn so I know they are correct. I just don't know how to tell the device to do it from the HC2

Yes please I would also like to know!

I tried the following without success (but I am on a beta version):

sendir,1:3,1,40000,1,1,342,170,22,63,22,21,22,63,22,21,22,21,22,63,22,21,22,63,22,21,22,63,22,21,22,63,22,63,22,21,22,63,22,21,22,63,22,63,22,21,22,63,22,21,22,21,22,21,22,21,22,21,22,21,22,63,22,21,22,63,22,63,22,63,22,63,22,40320x0d

I can send codes to my Globalcache WF2IR, If the command is good in iTest, then add 0x0D0x0A

at the end and it works, the globalcace uses a Carriage return(0D) as it's command delimiter, The Home Center only sends a New Line(0A) example code.

Samsung TV, VOL+ 5 units

sendir,1:1,1,38000,5,1,169,168,21,63,21,63,21,63,21,21,21,21,21,21,21,21,21,21,21,63,21,63,21,63,21,21,21,21,21,21,21,21,21,21,21,63,21,63,21,63,21,21,21,21,21,21,21,21,21,21,21,21,21,21,21,21,21,63,21,63,21,63,21,63,21,63,21,1794,169,168,21,21,21,36940x0D0x0A

how have you placed the global cache device? is it right next to your devices that you control?

i have 3 devices around the room so i would need 3 itach devices?

thanks

  • The third port supports an IR blaster which comes with the package. The listed range of this is around 40'. I have one pointed at a heat pump and a TV across a room (aprox 4m) and it works fine

The extra 2 ports will also support another 2 emitters. The range of these is much less. sendir,1:X selects the port you with the code to be sent from (1,2 or 3) so you can have the blaster at one end of the room and the emitters inside cabinets for other devices that can be kept out of sight.

But one device can send codes to multiple devices so along as you can place the 2 emitters and bleater in range of everything you want to control you should only need one

  • Yes use port 4998.. The command should start like this:

    sendir,1:3

3 being the port in which the emitter or blaster are connected

[EDIT] Ah.. Only just saw the edit on your post!

    hey there,

i'm currently investigating a bit on home automation. my plan is to automate all lights and some switches plus the tv setup and the main entrance door (cam and lock).

i found all the info i need about everything apart from the IR implementation. since you seem to have it working: could you tell me how exactly the commands to the iTach are implemented? is there something like an on-screen remote or is it just buttons with an script associated? some screenshots maybe?

what i currently have is a 1 press ciname mode

i press a scene button that dimms lights, turns on projects, receiver, sub and lowers the screen

i think it is more comfortable to keep using the tv remote control or some universal remote to change channels and control volume but use home automation for various scenes like movie or chillout

you can also depending on the receiver make a scene that turns on music when coming home and so on..

itach basically accepts ir strings from network and passes them on via IR. in homecenter you associate one IR command to a button so when pressed HC2 sends taht string over network to iTach

can someone make sample on how to send the same globalcache string with lua

    thanks!
