Device inclusion - what am I doing wrong!?

Question

I've only recently got my HC2, and so far, I've not been overly impressed (unfortunately, as I so want to upgrade my X10 system to Z-wave).

Other than a whole bunch of dead nodes that I seem to have to keep "waking up", I'm now facing a new problem. I have some AN157 plug-in on/off sockets - which HC2 seemed to recognise as AN145s at one point. Having excluded them and included them in HC2, I'm now getting a strange device screen where the "Controlled Device" drop down (where I would usually select "Lighting") is now totally blank. Also the device identification field (Device Kind) is showing it as an "On/Off Switch". Technically correct, but not what it used to say.

The result is that if I look on the iPhone App for "lights", I get absolutely nothing, as I can't assign a particular device a category.

I personally have never had this problem but you can do this:

Exclude the device...

Disconnect from HC2 Interface.

Reconnect to the HC2 Interface.

Check if device properly removed...

Reboot the box...

Include the device again...

good luck.

Nope. I'm beginning to think I've got a faulty HC2 here. I can't even add a device now. When I try and include a device, the log (at the top of the HC2 screen) says:

HC2: Home Center in learning mode

    HC2: Routing table updated

HC2: Adding devices complete. HC2 Ready

    HC2: New Listening Node 13

    HC2: Adding devices complete

    HC2: Adding devices complete

HC2: Add node status protocol done

    HC2: Device found

    HC2: Device added

The net effect of all this is: well, nothing! No new device added.

    Hmm....

I'm losing track of the number of times I'm rebooting this box!
