HC2 Performance

Question

Posted

My box is getting dreadfully slow, and just wanted to know if I'm alone. Some stats:

Login time: 14 secs

Associations/Setup button: 15 secs for a screen to appear

Move from "Devices" to "Your House": 27 secs

Move from "Devices" to "Rooms": 15-20 secs

My PC is connected to a 100Mb switch, the same one as the HC2, so this is not network lag. Does anyone have any improvement on that ?

Hello Davedotnet,

Have you look your ip config is your Pc and fibaro on dhcp ? If not is the gateway the same ?

What is your internet browser ?

What is the result when you Ping ?

Kind regards

Do you have any scenes with longer timer settings? Eg turn light on after 120s and after inactivity of 200s turn off? There should be a bug with these settings

davedotnet, update software to 1.042, should help

davedotnet, how many devices You got?

25 x Vitrum switches (mixture of satellite and masters), some with one endpoint, others with two.

    1 x Horstmann HRT4-ZW Thermostat

    1 x Horstmann ASR-ZW single channel relay

3 x Fibaro Universal Sensor (each with two DS18B20's)

    1 x Aeontech Multi Sensor

5 x Virtual Devices (probably don't factor in)

So, approximately 30'ish physical devices (far more in terms of EndPoints though)

This is worrying news. When I get answers to my questions on heating and cooling I plan to implement 50+ devices. I'm now worried that the box just can't handle it.

A.Socha, it will be cool if you can add some CPU/MEM/HDD monitoring tool ... no ?

    Kind regards

I haven't this sort of performance problems but the HC2 hardware and software seems to be very mysterious sometimes... Good luck! And hope the v3.xx will be released asap.

+1 Pascal: monitoring tools must in the v3.xx ...

That looks like you got a lot scenes who often check devices status

disable your scenes and see what happens then, im pretty sure it stabilises

I was planning on installing a multi-sensor (motion, light, temp and humidity) in each room and corridor in my house and having something like scenes to automatically turn lights on and off as I move around the house.

    - If I enter a room or corridor and plan on staying then I will just manually turn a light on, otherwise it automatically turns on when I enter and then turns off after a pre-defined period of time has passed without movement

    - If I have turned a light on manually and a pre-defined period of time passes without motion then the light will automatically turn off

    - If it's at night time then only corridors automatically turn on and in a dimmed state

I am looking at something like 15 mutli-sensors for my house, which will have to be mains powered and presumably will have to post motion activity every second or less with the other sensor information updating far less frequently; if that's even possible.

Given all this discussion of performance will the HC2 even be able to do this without coming to a grinding halt?

I hadn't mentioned how many scenes I have. But, I have 8. They are all disabled and it makes no difference. It's dissappointing that I've got too many with 8 scenes. I was hoping to have more.

Just to add a bit more colour and so you can compare and contrast. Clicking on the "Panels", "Linked Devices" or "Configuration" icons delivers the page quickly. The left four icons produce the problem.

    Newbie here.

On this subject, I've noticed that when I configure the HC2 for Google public DNS (8.8.8.8) as recommended by Fibaro for remote access, it kills performance. Login time, switching between pages when attached to the device, everything. Got a decent 15Mb internet connection so it's nothing to do with that. As soon as I switch back to local DNS it acts normally. Will probably just forward ports on the router to get admin access from externally now but I haven't had time to look at it.

    I have about 15 scenes and 16 devices + 4 virtual devices.

Planning on many many more. So with a processor that fast the system shouldn't be slow.

That was the whole reason for Fibaro to switch from the Vera controller to their own controller.

For me everything is still fast. So maybe they can do a remote login to see what is happening with your system?

I had the same problems om 1.041, it was really SLOWWWWWW but the update to 1.042 solved this problem.

I have installed 189 modules here and 41 scenes, constantly looking for status change don't have any issues anymore.

What exactly was really slow? everything, certain menus ? certain operations ? I'm on 1.042 so I'm just wondering if you experienced something quite different from me.
