MQTT - LUA Libraries

Hi,

Will it be possible to add your own lua libraries? I would like to add MQTT for logging things in mysql and using that for custom interfaces?

Regards,

Mark

MQTT would be nice, but I think there's other stuff that needs to be done first.. Like supporting 3rd party zwave devices (still rather crappy)

Come to think of it.. Implementing MQTT would solve a lot of things.. Not in the least the crappy event-logging. Plus it would make integration with other systems a lot easier. But I'm still afraid that Fibaro won't give it a lot of thought.. :/

always good to see the developers of Fibaro to join in on the discussion

mqtt is being used in domoticz, openhab, node-red and athom homey... But no word from fibaro

MQTT is a must for IoT applications and Fibaro is one of them, right?

Would be nice if somebody from Fibaro would take the time in OVER 2 YEARS to answer this open question:

WILL YOU EVER SUPPORT MQTT FIBARO?

Yes / No

Hello,

@sj3fk3, the research has been done and the team made some conclusions, but the works did not start so I think that MQTT will not be supported soon.

I'll inform the team about the thread anyway. :)

Thanks for the answer!

I think mqtt support would be the best thing in years from fibaro. It would open up integration with almost everything else out there.. Even if it would only published events on mqtt.

Hello Fibaro,

MQTT is a (m)protocol out since 1999 and being used worldwide today across many Home Automation, Scada/ICS and IoT platforms.

Since the base of HC(2) is Linux believe it should be a small development investment to implement this specific messaging service & have a big impact on new potential customers challenged today w buying the platform outside Z-wave use. At the same time expand 3rd party technology vendor collaboration in the Home automation field outside Z-wave. Overall I believe a Win-Win situation especially for Fibaro adoption WW ;D

Community wise we could have implemented this already today if we had proper CLI access but also fully understand (IP wise) reasoning not allowing this ..
Unfortunate now we need to architect different systems outside Fibaro (like Arduino, OpenHAB etc.) to get this done resulting to much overhead and finally switching to open source Home Automation platforms & leaving Fibaro....

 A much preferred start would be to:

- 1st have an MQTT type client service running on the HC(2) platform like mosquito integrated into Fibaro UI (possible plugin or similar functionality like SMS, Email or Push that together with Fibaro Scenes functionality (blocks & graphical mode) then react on MQTT received messages to trigger specific Fibaro (virtual) devices or scene actions

- At a later stage enable/support LUA coding capabilities & allow MQTT publishing of Fibaro messages outside the platform ...

Just my 5 cents worth on this, believe important topic...  :)

I am stunned that no Fibaro led work has been done on MQTT. It is an essential standard in HA integration nowadays and just shows how adrift Fibaro are as a company.

We need an inbuilt client although I’m happy to use an external server. Either provide your users with enough access, information and tools to implement this or do it yourself Fibaro... please...

another area for great improvement of Fibaro. All previous users complete the landscape for a win-win story.

Hi,

almost a year has past since you finally said something about MQTT support in Fibaro, could please provide us some more information ? Did the team start working on it or it's still at the same stage ? Please give us some details, you know it's important to us, I'm sure you care about your costumers so please say something, even if it's a bad news, at least we will know what to do...

thanks.

What I just cannot understand is how this works: A bunch of users tell Fibaro, listen up Fibaro we think this would be a very good thing to do...

Fibaro goes:

as I can see it works in plugins only.

currently, Fibaro includes in FibaroSceneEnv.lua

and you can grab info about this package:

but as you can see all methods not wrapped for LUA calling.
