HC2 compatible/supported device list

Question

Hi,

I know this is not a new topic and I saw some posts related to this topic.

As some of you may know, I have started a blog and there is a section related to identify all compatible device with the HC2.

Your input will be appreciated ! It will be good to have one central place with end user information.

Please have a look at www.ghafoor.org

Thanks,

YG

You are a brave man... and I am not sure that this helps.

I have felt for a couple of years that asking the Z-Wave association to only certify devices that require no special configuration as having "open support" and all others, that are the ones that cause us all headaches because they require special settings, as "compatible with supported controller configuration"

I think the underlying truth is that if a device has implemented classes in a standard way and does not need extra non standard tweaks then fibaro will support out of the box very well. Indeed better than I have experienced from another system I have used.

So there are a load of new devices coming ... from a few hundred vendors. There are new version of old ones that in the original version were badly implemented and worked nowhere without special code. There will be new versions that are not compatible now as the old workarounds in the controllers make them fail. There will hopefully be many new devices that are well implemented.

Any list you construct can not stay up to date even with an army of us supporting you.

The list will imply many good devices are not compatible by exclusion or are compatible but are no longer because the latest version has not been implemented correctly.

Please reconsider and lobby the Z-Wave association to start to be stricter with compliance so this problem goes away. The idea of z-wave for me is that I should be able to take any device and use it with any controller. A compatibility list should not be needed. This is not only a Fibaro issue and your list will mislead.

I am happier supporting Fibaro to get around the tricky ones and tell others in this group when I find a well behaved device and if possible the version and settings that worked.

    Hi Robmac,

Thanks for this comprehensive email !

Well, I am very pragmatic and we may not succeed in getting such a list before the z-wave industry can finalize one common standard. Till that time, my objective is very modest and I do believe that having some information centralized with access to all of us would be of great help for all the newbies like myself.

Your contribution in the blog would be highly appreciated as you have plenty experience to share

Just to add my experience... One release supported my Vitrum switches, then the next release didn't, then the next release did, and then the next release...

Not sure how you cope with this fluidity

Good point - I think your message is more addressed to the Fibaro Team.

For the time being, let's find some work around solution and keep a positive mood !

Please have a look at www.ghafoor.org

    YG,

Just looked at your web site, but note that you're collecting the 'list' in a forum, whereas I had assumed a more structured list. That said, I think if you want to start a forum thread on this, it would be better to do it here because then you'll have more access to a greater community. I think it will be difficult to build up any momentum on your personal forum/blog.

Thanks for your input and you are right regarding the format/structured list.

Let me think about it and I will work out some solution like a table or some structured way to capture, store and make queries...

    Sorry for my beginners's question.

    I am unable to create a "linked device" including for example all light switches. If I want to add linked devices, only choices are;

    Linked Devices - Heating

    Linked Devices - Air Conditioning

    Linked Devices - Humidity

    Video gate

I do not want to create one of these. I just want to combine Switch 1, Switch 3, ...

Linked Devices combine several devices into one device. Using this function, you can control a group of related devices as if it were one single device.

    How to do this ?

Thank you very much for your help.
