I'm using a much simple solution which does not require any hardware changes.

I used tasker to automate. When my phone is within my wifi network, turn on wifi and switch off 4g. In this case, I'm connected to my router. When my phone is connected to my router, disarm my alarm.

Simple as that. Is this what you guys are looking for? A trigger to know you're/ reaching home?

wow it is very tricky! Thanks for sharing this idea. However... this seem to be complicated to our family. Our sons don't have phone or even tasker... My wife... maybe. For that reason I think your workaround is good for power users... For family users I prefer giving them some RFID key or something else... Any solution here???

Thanks!

How about installing a fixed android phone with nfc and tasker? You can even use small labels to activate  / deactivate different scenes. Works perfectly for me
