Rfxcom is the best RF reciever / transmitter on the market

At the moment there is no Rfxcom plugin available for the HC2.

I need the Rfxcom for controlling my curtains and some KAKU modules (located outside)

Idea is to buy a Raspberry Pi and connect the Rfxcom to the Raspberry Pi via USB.

On the Raspberry Pi you will need a small app that can control the Rfxcom.

From the HC2 you will be able sending http command's to the Raspberry Pi for controlling RF devices..

What do I need for this:

- Raspberry Pi (35 euro)

- Rfxcom USB (95 Euro)

- Basic Domotica software that can run on the Raspberry Pi with support for Rfxcom and can be controlled via http command lines..

Who is interested in this solution and can help to work this out?

Enver,

Isn't Ron of Domotiga.nl having a nice linux solution for that? I haven't tried his domotiga yet on my RasPI, but I think it should be powerful enough to run it all.

    Jelle,

    That's correct.

Not sure if there are http calls possible in domotiga.

    I will contact Ron.

Can you test it if there is support for http calls?

Otherwise we just make something in LUA or Python. Less overhead.

    That will be much better.

have a http interface and works out of the box in a raspberry pi with wheezy and with rfxcom

Actually I had it working before moving to zwave.

Now I am trying to make both work all together in a seamless way

(I still have plenty of rfx hardware)

The downsides (for me at least) are:

    - Most of the community speaks german and most of the wiki/forum are in german.

    - It is implemented in perl (which I didn't know before working with it)

By the way. I didn't use lua before so ...

I used RFX Hardware for years on HomeSeer and I would love to see it being connected with HC2 somehow. I am too much of a newbie on HC2 to be of much assistance but I have a whole heap of hardware that I can use to test anything.

RFX Hardware really is the best at integration.

Other option maybe the Lan version of Rfxcom.

Hi, I'm a new user and will get a HC2 next week, I currently use a RPi with Domoticz to control my Rfxtrx, is it possible to control Domoticz switches and get temp from it in HC2, and if so do you have an example on how to do it?

You can definitely control switches using virtual devices. I assume you can also use a virtual device in combination with a scene to get the temp (if that's accessible via http)

    Hello,

I've got a little solution for the rfxcom LAN version in xPL mode.

Try this python script here :

Please login or register to see this link.

It looks for xPL data from Oregon devices and creates new virtual devices in the HomeCenter if device does not already exist. Temp/Hum/Battery are set in global variables.

    Hope it helps

I still have a Homewizard, but I am slowly replacing all my kaku devices with z-wave. I do not like a system with different controlers.

And there also is the reason why I bought the HC2, the kaku devices are simply not reliable. To often on/off signals will not reach the devices, even if they are on the other side of the room, just 5 meters from the HW. TV, multimedia etc. simply mess up the signal. And that is strange. A signal to the attic, with 2 concrete ceilings in between does arrive with no problem.

Since you have only your curtain and some switches outside, I would simply replace them.

@kabutop thanks looks good.Have to install my Rfxcom Lan for testing

@mvrekum I agree zwave is the best solution. Probleem is there is no zwave module for every wish.

something simple like displaying the temperature in an room..The Evespring is ugly compared to Oregon.

The new fibaro motion (temperature) sensor is on it's way. Just got an email from Robbshop that they can deliver it in 1 or 2 weeks. This one looks good (in my eyes). I'll test one first and if it functions satisfactory I will get one for every room in the house.

I hoop the sensor will be available soon. We are also waiting for this one. (www.hashop.nl)

This sensor will not display the temperature in an room. Will only send it to the HC2 & HCL

You need to pick up your phone to see the temperature..

I rather sit on my couch and pick up the phone than walk to a wall to read the temperature.

Btw: Just ordered 2 sensors €58 a piece.

yep reading from the wall in bathroom is a bit faster then picking up the phone.

i hope the motion sensor will be available this week.
