Two Way and Three Way Light Circuits

I have read a bit on this forum about setting up non-simple lighting circuits, but have to admit that I am at a loss.

I need to understand in the first instance:

1. What is possible using Fibaro dimmers?

2. How many Fibaro dimmers I need to buy for each example below?

3. Does my current wiring setup for two and three way light switches impact my design or will Fibaro handle the association of two or three switches so that it knows they are connected in a single circuit?

The three configurations are:

1. Two-way with one gang on each switch?

2. Two-way with one gang on one switch and two gangs on the other switch

a. The second gang on the two gang switch controls another circuit

3. Three-way with:

a. One end having two-gangs

b. The middle being one-gang

c. The other end having two-gangs

The second gang on the outer switches control other circuits

1. In all three examples I would expect (hope) that all of the light switches act as dimmers

2. I don’t mind if I have to buy a dimmer module per light switch

3. I will be using retractable/mono-stable light switches in all examples

I appreciate I have asked some complex questions, but any input would be appreciated... is it possible yes/no?

I saw your questions about various multi-way set-ups you would like to do with the Fibaro Dimmers.

I have already created a number of application notes to help with this type of installation.

They are:

- Installing Fibaro Dimmers:

- 2-Way lighting with Fibaro:

- Application Notes:

These should help you get on your way.

For the more complex setups - I can help you with those.

Probably easier if you email me directly.

  • Awesome piece of work.

The first link I'd already figured out. The second I had a good idea but scanning your guide in less than a minute I can see exactly how it works. If only Fibaro released such notes!!

    Thank you very much!

I just got my Jung switches to work two days ago. You can't believe how hard it was. It's too long a story to type up but the final hurdle was that despite explaining to Jung what I needed the switch to do they sent our a 2-gang switch with backlights which constantly drew power through the Sx and S1 and screwed with the lighting. When I popped the backlights out it worked fine.

Now using your 2nd link I can see how to set up 2-way, 3-way ... infinite way lighting. Thanks. That's another tick in the box.

    Glad they were useful.

We created these to make life easy for people using the Fibaro devices.

There are a number of new apps notes and videos coming along in the near future including using the relays, controlling blinds/curtains and heating.

Some people have let me know that these links appear to be broken, so I've included them again.

Hello Monions, I see you are quite knowledgable with setting up z-wave devices. What about new Heltun Quinto as 2 way switch with Fibaro HC3? Any advice from you?
