Outdoor sirene

Question

I'm looking for an outdoor sirene.

As far as i know there are no outdoor z-wave sirenes available at the moment.

Actually there is one from Fortrezz but the unit is not recommended to be used in direct exposure to harsh elements, rain, snow, and sun.

The idea is connecting it to a universal binary sensor if possible ??

Any ideas ?

That the best way, buy outddor generic sirene (many are really not expensive and most Advanced than z-wave sirene) and hack it with a universal binary sensor and fibaro switch 2x1.5.

You can do it with some elktron outdoor products and others i think...

Keep us informed

Krikroff, why use 2 zwave switches or the job of 1 zwave switch?

    Here's my opinion on this:

If you have an outdoor siren already with it's own power supply and a on/off switch, use a IP-67 grade box for putting the universal sensor in and use the potential free output relays to connect to the on/off switch. All it would need is some current to power the zwave binary sensor itself.

If you have a "plain" outdoor siren that only has a power cord and is triggers by putting power on it, then use the fibaro FGS221 or FGS211.

Use fibaro FGS221 (2x1.5kW) for outdoor sirene with Sirene + Flash features, you can switch Flash, Sirene or both

    /emoticons/default_icon_wink.gif" alt=";-)" /> , if outdoor device is "only" a sirene use FGS211 (1x3kW)

I didn't read anything about a flash feature requirement..

The Universal sensor has 2 potential free outputs. I'm not sure if both are switchable in a seperate state from eachother. It can happen both ways I think.

In all cases, if can't place the switches inside the house and need to place them outdoors near the device: use IP-67 grade boxes. Those are waterproof.

    example here:

2 in / out universal sensor operate independently of the other. out1 is the state of the in1 and out2 is the state of the in2.

This is true, but it is an answer to help and bring elements of reflection

Or directly in the siren boxe, elkron is a good choice for that : there is plenty of space Inside

I think Lode has all the elements in hand to make a choice

    Hi..

Can you explain how this can be done with only 1 universal binary sensor. I believe potential free outputs have same status of IN1 /IN2. And Device reports the status of IN1/2 to HC2 depending on whether its armed or not . Want to know how a relay can be operated with a binary sensor

Universal binary sensor is use ONLY if there's alarm system already installed in the house

/emoticons/default_icon_wink.gif" alt=";-)" /> and monitor the state of the sirene. In case of full z-wave alarm use Fibaro FGS221 or FGS211 to switch (on / off) sirene features (buzz or flash light or both if you want

Universal binary sensor cannot turn ON or OFF a device isn't a switch but it can apply the state of its input, it can monitor a relay state (open / close) for example.
