Which type of electricity system for new house?

Hello,

I will start building a new house in a few week. I alraidy have the HC2. I wonder which type of electricity system i should install to use with the fibaro system.

To explain me better you have the normal system where the light switches are connected directly to the lights (classic system) but the days often they put monostable switches the are connected with a bus cable that goes to the central board which contains the relay. The light are then not connected directly to the siwtch but to the central board. A classic system uses tumble switches and the Fibaro switches work nicer with monostable switches, right?

I would like to be able to use the switches even if the HC2 is offline.

If i install a system with monostable switches and bus cables i would have to have relay switches in the central board but the fibaro modules alraidy have the relays, waste of money, no?

Is there a guide or walkthrough where i can find more info about the subject?

Thx in advance.

You best install the classic solution. This is way easier and much cheaper. you use normal bistable switches except when you install a dimmer. then the monostable (puls) switch works nicer. One of the biggest advantages of Fibaro system (z-wave) is the wireless bus. So you don't have to pull bus wires as you do in a KNX or EIB system. The Fibaro system is completely retrofit, so its easy to install in existing houses as well. As you were building a new house, the only thing you have to worrie about is the place of your switches and be sure u us <50mm deep wallboxes. For any questions about electrical installation you can always contact me.

    Hey,

Thx for the reply. I will go for the classic system then. The push buttons won't work when the HC2 is offline?

When the HC2 is offline the switches still work. I have installed dimmer modules and they basically work independently from the HC2 in that if you tap the mono-stable or retractive switch it will basically do the opposite of what it did the last time i.e. turn the light on, then if you tap again it will turn the light off. The module manages the taps. If the HC2 is on-line then the module will successfully send a signal to the HC2 to advise that the state of the switch has changed. At least that’s how I understand the functionality so far.

Good to know. I find very little guides or walktroughs for these kind of things from Fibaro. Would be nice to have an outlay of these things from them.
