I have found a press release regarding new chips from Sigma Design for z-wave with some exciting new features. I wonder when Fibaro would be able to implement it in their devices:

In addition to the performance gains afforded by the new Series 500 SoC and module hardware, the Sigma Designs Next-Gen platform also includes both a new Z/IP feature and the ZIPR Gateway. The former is a software engine that transforms IP protocol commands into Z-Wave commands and vice versa. The latter is a reference design for a very inexpensive gateway that can present any Z-Wave device as an IP device, with an IP address and all IP services. These breakthrough features will further solidify Z-Wave's position as a key enabling technology behind the Internet of Things (IoT).

    Hi,

Anyone has some news regarding a Home Center HW update to integrate the new next gen chipset? (and as well all accessories) In fact, it seems that Sigma has released it and bring good improvements.

    Many thanks,

I think we will implement this chips in our future releases however first of all we need to make very wide reseach related with this new chips. We want to be sure that this product will be as much reliable as possible.

    Many thanks Krystian

It makes sense for the tests

Have you got an idea when this would be implemented, before-after mid 2014?

I think these tests could take some itterations of hard and software changes. Not to miss that they also need to test with other products using the old and the new chips... I guess we shouldnt expect it any earlier than late 2014. as the product at this stage is still up to date compared to competator devices.

The new sigma chip really helps z-wave become bigger as they had to do something to compete with the Ip device growth! This establishes that in my idea.
