Hi,

I am looking for some advice in changing my current 'static' thermostats on my radiators into 'active' ones controlled by Fibaro.

I believe Danfoss Living is what I am looking for to replace the valves on my radiators.

But what about controlling the heater unit? RIght now I have a thermostat that handle's the heating schedules and temperatures. I wouldn't want my heater to be running all the time, now do I? What in case of frost? My current thermostat prevents temperatures below 6°C (configurable) in case of extreme cold...

Is the Danfoss Link what I need, or is there something else I need to look at?

Any advice would be really appreciated!

William.

Check at the manual of your heater if it can be set up to run only with thermostat. After you install Danfoss valves set the heater into the thermostat mode and thats all. The heater should intelligently stop the heating when all thermoststs are closed and start if any of them is open.

Use the heating panel to set the zones and temperatures.

if however your heater doesn't support just thermostats then you need to build addidtional scenes with a Fibaro switch to control it.

    Richo,

Thank you for your reply. It makes sense.

I was actually also considering replacing the central thermostat with a 3kW Relay switch, so I can turn it off when I don't need it, as in when we're out on holidays or the like.

I'll check the manual of my heater tonight, and post back with the details and my findings.

    I have a

    Vaillant ecoTEC plus VC 306

According to the documentation, I do not need a 'central' thermostat. I need to bridge the connections that would normally connect to the thermostat.

I also contacted the vendor, and they stated the heater will stop heating when the water has reached the temperature configured on the heater itself, and will start all over again when the water temperature drops.

This may be a problem, as my pipes are not isolated, which would result in serious loss, if I would bridge the thermostat connections...

So I believe bridging it with a 3 kW Relay Switch may be a good idea.

    Any thoughts?
