Endless story (ipad HC2 app) - but alternatives are ready

Question

Hi

Just realised that Roomie (extremely powerful iOS (iphone and ipad) remote control application) is able to work with HC2 (HC2 lighting) natively, as well as Philips HUE (fibaro is ignorant about that) and huge amount of appliances (Sonos, Somfy, direct-IP, iTach LAN to IR devices, etc)

Very nice, especially useful for fully automated home control "all in one"

It is not cheap (totally you'll pay about 40$ USD) but probably the best.

Please login or register to see this link.

Features

IP Control with Automatic Discovery: World class IP control library supports many devices with no adapter required via your Wi-Fi network. Provides advanced two-way feedback support with automatic discovery of devices on your network.

Infrared Control: High-end home theater code library supports virtually all components when paired with an infrared adapter.

Extensive Device Support: Over 95,000 commands for thousands of devices.

Virtual Remote: Roomie provides a remote for any supported device, automatically optimizing each remote for iOS with all of the commands from your original remote and often more advanced commands including "discrete" power on and off.

iTunes and Sonos Control: Control your music and video library including Airplay to your AppleTV, play functions, playlist selection, position scrubbing, album art, volume, Sonos Pandora playlists, and more.

Integrated TV Schedules: Provides TV listings for US, UK, Canada, and 14 other countries including personalization of listings with favorite channels integrating with your devices to tune your channels directly. TV listings include program details, graphics, and full cast and crew credits.

Blu-ray Feedback: Provides interactive position scrubbing and elapsed time displays for supported Panasonic, Pioneer, and Oppo players.

Synchronization: Configuration changes are instantly synchronized among all your devices via Wi-Fi or iCloud.

Advanced Macros and Automation: Advanced macros can be created for precise control over your systems. Using the extensive command library, Roomie’s macros can sequence complex command timing over multiple types of connection easily automating high-end home theaters, multiple rooms, or houses.

Remote Customization: Buttons can be created, removed, and customized to your liking.

Dropbox and iTunes Backup: Configurations can be backed up to iTunes locally or Dropbox.

Infrared Learning: If needed, commands can be learned using any supported adapter.

Serial(RS-232) Support: Rock solid serial support when combined with a Roomie Serial adapter.

IP Receivers: Unlike traditional IR solutions, Roomie knows your volume, power, mute, input, and mode status showing live feedback for many aspects of your system. Song, album art, integration with receiver iPod and streaming services are also provided. (See Roomie website for supported models.)

IP Media Players: Integration with TiVo, Roku, Sonos, Boxee, and a growing list of other devices including DirecTV with live channel info. Roomie even provides keyboard support in most cases and graphical channel integration for Roku and WD TV.

IP TV/Projectors: Sharp, Panasonic, Samsung, JVC, and many more.

IP Lighting: Insteon and Lutron Radio RA 2 IP lighting control.

In App Purchases

Infrared Control Pack: Upgrade to support infrared devices when combined with an adapter available from the Roomie Store.

Home Theater Pack: Upgrade to support unlimited devices in unlimited rooms from its initial support for up to 2 devices in 1 room.

HD Guide Pack: (1) Expand the TV guide to a full two weeks of schedules with photos for shows, credits, and crew biographies. (2) Enable full screen guide expansion on iPad. (3) Powerful Media Guide for iTunes, Sonos, and VLC.

Yes, in-app purchases - unlimited pack (2 devices per room is not enough obviously) and IR control (in case you'd like to use Global Cache LAN/WiFi to IR)

But you'll pay once and iphone+ipad is covered by one version, therefore you could sync all your iOS devices and use the same configuration, i.e. to manage smarthome from any iOS device in a house.

Configs are synced using icloud, dropbox, etc.

$10 was nice for all..$40 is just to much

I hope they will add Irtrans support

Free version with 1 device will maybe convince me

Now it looks like all the other Home theater control apps. just high price..

for HC2 you have to add all the device manual

Cor is not happy with this app (Dutch Itunes review)..he is asking his money back it cost him 27 Euro and they are asking more…

Roomie didn't describe HC2 support in the description, so I'm not even going to look at it. Also looking at the pictures in Itunes it looks pretty early 90's on the interface. Not my kind of thing, but it's good to have alternatives available.

I've been using Roomie since about Aug 2012. It is very nice!

It takes a while to configure, and I've only enabled one lamp in one room because they are a bit awkward to set up. You have to define the ID all the time and there is no support for dim slider. It works, and you achieve cool effects - but it's best part is for media and not lightning.

I press one button and my TV, Reciever, HTPC etc. etc. etc. all turns on and are properly configured. Very nice.

Yep, Roomie is nice and works just perfect, HC2 support is not easy to configure but still highly useful.

To be great, fibaro must include one virtual remote control by room on the ipad app.

After that, HC2 app is going to be the best ^^.

I know that this is really time consuming for the FIBARO team especially that they provide the app for free. BUT I would gladly pay a couple of bucks for a remote that controls my XBMC, dreambox/VU+ (enigma2), sonos sound system, remote for TV, AC and shows camera on the tv/mobile on event... etc etc but OUT OF THE BOX!

I know all of this is already possible with the lua scripting but I cannot find good doc on this and I just do not have time to waste on developping this.

    We NEED this
