find out if ds18b20 is bad

is there a way to check w lua if ds18b20 is functioning or is connected to dw sensor or UBS it seems to me if i detach the sensor from UBS or DW sensor then the temp stais at what it was in the gui and nothing else happens, no dead node or similar any ideas?
